Forget doping....fit a motor maybe.

Batteries in the Top Tube, Down tube, and seat tube. That small motor in the video could probably produce 300 Watts, more than enough to ride anyone off his wheel, he wont need it for very long, just enough to break the elastic.

NIMH industrial "D" Cells are 31mm O/D and 12 of them could provide 300 Watts for 30 min, possibly more for a shorter period.

No need to hide the battery just use DI2 and share the battery. the motor and the additional force does not need to be large.

Any assistance will result in huge savings by the rider that they can use later. Consider soft pedaling on the flats and then having reserves on the climbs. Or just a little relief on the climb.

And bikes are so light these days they need to add weights any way. so there is no real penalty there either.

What video?

Even 100 watts would make a big difference. I know from the times I have pushed someone up a hill. even just 2 fingertips on their back can make it remarkably easier for the rider who is struggling.

I wonder if there would ever be any place for a KERS type of system on bikes? Provided you start with completely flat batteries which you could recharge as you ride along on flats or even during braking/ downhill sections and could then be used to give you say a 30 second boost.
