Hi

I am a newbie to cycling and would like some advice on the correct procedure for bike fitting (frame).

I have browsed the net and the general "formula" that everyone seems to use is 0.67 x inseam measurement and for a MTB you subtract 10 - 12 cm off above ??

Please help

Even if you buy from another bike shop... but you pay for it at cyclelab...

It sounds more like you are trying to figure out what size bike you should look at... I'm not sure on that one

I am looking at going to visit a professional as well, but am skeptical. I have picked up a knee 'overuse' injury and there is nothing materially wrong with my knee, so the doctor has recommended a podiatrist. I would like to find someone that specialises in bike setup, preferrably MTB. By professional, I mean someone with a medical type of qualification.

Cany anyone recommend anyone (in JHB) ?

Sorry for the hijack, but i think its the same question (maybe)?

Jyzelle, MTB is more fun then road but road is faster and easier. MTB is "safer" from a cars perspective but can be more dangerous if you can't handle a bike. During road races you can fall really hard due to the speeds and the hard black stuff underneath you.

And what about getting a MTB (with slicks/semi-slicks) for the road. I see plenty of MTB's on the road ? But I guess that defines the purpose of a MTB, right ?

I went there this afternoon, it sounded like they will do a standard setup for you if you buy the bike there, but if you want a real pro setup you will pay.  Maybe I misunderstood, but thats the message that I got.
