Need some advise please?? Managed to secure an Epic entry and need to upgrade to a dual suspension. Have a budget of ~R30K for a bike and are currently looking at the Momsen Vipa-AC and Silverback Sprada-1.

Seems like the Silverback comes in with better components at a better price? Your comments or a alternative bike I should consider?

But the latest issue of Tread - they have a side-by-side comparison of marathon oriented dual-sussers that are under the R40k mark.

Also, have a read of Iwan Kemp's Sprada review, right here on le Hub.

If the Sprada isn't dead ugly to you (I don't mind it's looks) it's hard to argue with the spec on it.  Full XT/SLX with a great wheelset and a bit more playful geometry.

I'd probably go for the SB.

Would be nice to compare weight though.  I have heard SB's can be on the heavy side.

Iwan reviewed the lower specced Sprada 2.

I also see the Sprada 1 weighs under 13kg.  That's good going in my books.

I'd defo go SB.

I have a carbon Vipa, built up to my budget. Awesome bike!

Think the Silverback Sesta Race will be more comparable, being 90mm rear travel with the Vipa AC, come to think of it, the Sedo also alloy frame.

I am interested in seing these Silverback Sesta or Sedo, but SB dissappoint with delivery in SA.

Saw a few SBC at Epic!

I've also got a carbon VIPA and it's an incredible bike. I love the way it cuts through single track, it climbs amazingly well and I feel totally in control whilst descending (fast...). Even though the geometry is more racy, I'm not tired or uncomfortable after 6hr + rides. The specs on the VIPA AC is slightly worse than the SB, but not bad at all.

I don't think any of these bikes will be a bad choice, but in the end you're the one that has to ride it. From what I gather the VIPA is more race orientated whilst the SB is more trail orientated. Neither of them will let you down.
