Fitting ESI Grips

I use Benzine. Throw a little inside the grip, put your finger on the opening and shake and then you have to fit and get it into position quickly. Benzine flashes quickly so is perfect for the job. Always works for me and grips have never moved

I hate to be the nanny here but you realise benzine is incredibly carcinogenic right?

In an ideal world where everybody owns a compressor.... I suppose they could always use their 2lt tubeless bottle bombs..... :whistling:

1st prize, compressed air. 2nd prize, a tin of hairspray or windowlene (would be cheaper and easier for the average DIY'er).

I think Eldron uses he's hairspray for those evenings out....

Durex Tingle

Or just the lube.  Only had a red bottle and it worked.  The first time I used hair spray, and the other time I used sugar water...

Reminds me of a story of one of the KTM mechanics that used to use KY Jelly instead of the recommended tyre mousse gel to fit the offraod tyre mousses as it was a lot cheaper. Saved a fortune but he got a few strange looks when he got to the till to pay for it..... Try and explain a big, tattooed guy in a pit shirt with two handfuls of KY Jelly tubes....

Just as a test, the other day I used a regular floor pump with a ball pumping needle in the end (to work like compressed air would) and successfully fitted a pair of Fabric silicone grips.  It's not as simple and easy as using the compressor, but it worked and there's zero chance of something not evaporating and leaving them all slippy.  they're rock solid!

No you are not the nanny. It had never ever crossed my mind, it just worked well. I do not use it often although but not often is still to often.....Well I am no longer going to use it, thanks for the post.

I have done a little research and it confirmed and reaffirmed the fact that most solvents and some cleaning agents are bad for us in some or other way, specially interesting is Talc...
