SportsWorld NO NO!

Hi all,

I'm not happy about something!

I e-mailed Sportsworld just the other day asking about a product - they replied in good time.

End of story right?

No!

Today, I get home to find now that I've been added to their mailing list.

I didn't ask to join it, I didn't have any say in the matter, I was just put on.

Now, I could click the unsubscribe option, but the matter remains, don't put people on your mailing list without asking their permission!

I'm sorry, but if you can't trust a online store to stick to the basic principals of online shopping or privacy, what can you trust them with?

I get enough spam in a day without them adding to the list.

Lucky you, you are not in the States.

Every single call and e-mail is recorded, and I get tons of crap via sms, e-mail and phone calls!

Welcome to the 21st century 'forced advertising'!

Don't worry, that is a good list to be on.  Their prices are good and service is excellent.

Be it as it may, ASK FIRST.

I don't appreciate just being added to their mailing list.

They must learn to respect my privacy.

My favourite is being woken up at  2o clock in the morning by a SMS telling me of a great life insurance deal I could be getting.

Jy ruk so bietjie die hoender hier dude, miskien te veel 7de Laan of Baan...(of wat okal), maar in my opinie sou dit 20 keer minder "effort" gewees het om net te "unsubscribe" as om die Forum te begin....

Yes, I know and I expected some 'attack' from the post but you know, it stems from the mentality of 'me knocking some guys car and walking away without leaving my information'

You just don't do it.

I used to work for a certain publication a few years ago and had to take so many calls from them asking WHY are they being spammed by us - we must remove their e-mail etc.

It's wrong, don't do it. Simple as that or have the common decency to ASK permission first.

Next time I die, I'm gonna ask your permission to save me,.. Seeing you are a Medic after all ;)

What BrandonF said so succinctly.

In addition, marketing has changed fundamentaly so perhaps it's time change with it. Digital marketing is one of the most effective marketing methods available (and prevalent) today. And whilst it can be irritating it's pretty easy to unsubscribe and move on.

You went onto their site, ergo you had/have an interest of sorts in what they have to offer, ergo "perhaps if we email him he will be interested in more of what we have to offer and maybe we get a repeat customer. This will improve our ability to serve this customer hopefully resulting in us retaining him because we always send him relevant information that is interesting to him." This they do by building a profile of what you view and buy. "But hey, if he doesn't like be emailed/spammed by us he can simply unsubscribe"

wow, I know it's annoying but just write them a nice mail, point it out and carry on. you're a medic, you know the world has bigger problems to get angry about. Just give it the response it deserves.

I agree with the op, it is uncalled for. But do what I do, report them as spammers

And that is what I plan on doing.

They know exactly what they are doing and they continue to do it, and because of the attitude of many, it just gets shoved aside.

If people started dealing with the 'smallest' issues when they arise, the bigger issues wouldn't exist.

This issue might be small or stupid to many, but in reality, its a big bloody problem.

Mark as Spam of blok hul email of unsubscribe.
