Tubes with slime not working.

3 weeks back I purchased tubes pre-filled with slime from Johnsons in Edenvale. Also got tyre liners.

Since then I have had to pictures that I had to patch, and one that healed while on my ride.

Is there a particular trick to get the slime to fill the hole, pump up and off I go?

No particular trick as far as I know, just try to get the thorn out asap as it will keep the hole open and prevent the sealant from doing its job if it stays in.

I would recomend a tubeless conversion with tubeless tyres though,it might be a bit more expensive than running tubes and normal tyres, but worth every cent as you will hardly ever get a flats tyre.

Thanks Ben.

Ye - tubeless is next on my list. My mate drops that hint over and over.

I have quoted R1,800 for the conversion (29er). Is that a decent price?

I recently got a qoute from my LBS for R1359,this is for 2 Maxxis Crossmark Tubeless Tyres @ R500 each and R350 for the conversion.I personally will pay the R350 for the conversion rather than doing it myself and risk screwing it up.

Touch wood I've had one puncture in about 18 months that the sealant didn't sort out - and that was a tear. I had a huge thorn in once, - 3cm long - managed to keep going until I pulled it out.

You seem to ride quite often so moving the sealant around doesn't seem to be the problem. My oh had issues when the bike stands for a long time. I prefer the Giant ones (ridgeway at greenstone stock em)
