Hey Mod, I posted this thread under Bike Room as  I spoke about the FUN that's going to be had of Motor Pacing the traffic. My post and those that followed have nothing to do with cycle safety, probably the opposite.  The correct forum for having fun on a bike is IMHO "Bike room"

is this a Aprils fools joke?

Nope, It is our Government's standard method of governing; "Government by Flying Kites".

They build and elaborate and colourful kite and attempt to fly it.

If it crashes they hurry back to the playroom with more string, sticks, paper and glue and try again .

This is just a  kite that is not going to fly  too soon without a lot of glue 'n stuff.

These creatures cannot even enforce what laws we have and now they wanna change them at a cost?

I wonder which cadré has got a finger in a road signage business?

That's exactly what I was going to say. Daily I see morons bombing through red lights Etc , and if they get stopped the cop will beg for some cash and turn a blind eye so mabe it's just another way to increase there salaries.

If they inforced the laws already in place then you can look at making new ones.

The gov/munt think that driving slower ,less electricity will be used by traffic lights and get us out of our misery .They are trying to hide load shedding from  foreign investors by claiming the slow traffic is for safety reasons

Taxi's. Filthy coitus stains on the South African roads. How are they going to be policing them? I do close on 5000km/month and I'll tell you I've seen it all. Uncontrollable bunch with no regard for the rules of the road, your life or the people who use them and don't speak out.

Let's not even work ourselves up remembering that they're exempt from e-tolls...

What also amazes me is how many taxis I see with new number plates, and you can see there is no way that rolling deathtrap could have passed road safety.

(Not that this hasn't fallen off the wagon considering how this topic started about how much fun was to be had with our bikes... ;) )

Driving in the early hours, I've been watching taxis on the roads at that time. Heading through woodmead / waterfall, the lights are so poorly synchronized you're bound to stop at nearly every robot. I watch taxis either just go through or do some fancy manoeuvre to avoid it , but there's always one that stops and waits - makes me think what makes this guy different.

Also watch ppl driving in the emergency lane. Everyone behaves until one person goes, then the sheeple follow suit. Mob mentality.

But back on topic... Changing the speed limit is stupid as it only affects those that abide by them.

chap that mentioned red lights is on the money, get every cop who usually sits behind a camera and is happy to let you carry on speeding now that he took your picture and who has clearly no intention of making roads safer, should be manned at traffic intersections and pull over every vehicle jumping a light. For starters.

There is currently a 24 week waiting list for new drivers license test in the Durban region. DUFUS wants to re-test the entire nation? Probably on some hallucinating medication, (of which I would like to have some, please).
