Dazshell Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 So, unless you have had a problem with your current Merida, I would suggest Merida Scultura 5000. Ultegra 11 speed. Way more comfortable for 100km ride than a Reacto but for climbing the Reacto is a better option. Should get one for ±R26 500.
Speeltyd Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 For R30k you can get serious road bikes! Minimum Carbon with Shimano Ultegra. Giant, Swift, Specialized, even Pinarello and Bianchi. The choice is really yours.Unless you want to race professional, get the bike that appeals most to you.

venom1 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Is 30k your budget for just a bike? If it's not, accessories can get very pricey so take that into account. (toolkit, pumps, bibs, computer, etc etc can become very expensive)

And if it was earlier then I could have waited and trained on my mountain bike but I need a bike before the Amashova and 94.7.

Remember: most of these selling for R30k in the classifieds were bought new at R50k+ only a year or two ago... A lot of these are probably barely used and are being sold because the seller decided one day road riding was no longer safe and/or his 29er wasn't good enough and he "needs" a 27.5 as well... Why buy a low spec Merida / Silverback, when you can get an awesome carbon Spez, Giant, Bianchi, Cannondale etc. with Ultegra level group for the same money? Even Ultegra di2!
