Some advice please, I am going down to sabie for the weekend and am interested to know what trails are in the area (other than the network from Mary Pebbles Resort) that are worth riding?

I found this on Facebook the other day. Not sure how far it is from Sabie but looks awesome.

Hey guys this is in Nelspruit which is about 50km from Sabie. It is a pump track that is awesome and has been built by the locals for the cyclists.

There will be some rides this weekend organized in and around Nelspruit by the local clubs:

Lowveld Chain Gang (Valencia cycle shop)

Jock cycle club (Bells cycling)

The Bicycle Co

Unfortunately we can't offer to take you around as most of us have kids riding in the Spur School Series in Nelspruit on Sat.

Also if you looking for something else to do .......... It's the Nelspruit Airshow on Saturday ............ At the airfield right next to that pump track on the trail worx fb page.

Let me know if you need any other info

In Sabie, go to Merry Pebbles resort, the trails start there. They have really awesome trails with distances varying from 6 to 30 something I think - lots of single track

Go to the bike shop at Woodsman Centre (Cycle Junkies I think) and ask. They will help you out.

Mankele, bit of a drive from sabie, but worth every minute.

Rode Mankele this weekend, absolutely amazing. The forest sections are something special. That first 5/6km climb is no joke!

we've done many 60+ km rides starting at merry pebbles heading towards graskop, eventually ending up at the top of the mountain, with a really long downhill most of the way back!

you don't need a "trail", just look at google earth for inspiration and to see the many forestry roads in the area, then get on your bike and go explore!

chances are you wont find the "google route" you planned on riding, and end up finding the most amazing untouched corners of the forest totally by accident.

what we've also done is to drive most of the way up long tom pass, park the car, then head out on one of the contour paths. there are some seriously quiet untouched parts of the forest up there with lush indigenous forests, swimming pools with water so clean you can drink it, waterfalls.....

I've said too much already.....

ps. obviously get your official forest-pass before heading out ;)

if you're going to be riding mankele, then rather stay at mankele. it's a lot closer to joburg/gauteng than sabie

Butting in here. If I had one morning at Mankele - which route do I take? Think Karkloof outback/enduro type stuff where my Pyga can get to work?
