Hi Louis,I presume you want to swap out the suspension fork for a rigid fork?If so you should be fine going rigid, many heavy riders on rigid forks without problems.Just keep in mind that youre suspension fork, even when locked out,has a little bit of travel to soften the ride(so that you dont blow the fork seals on impact when locked out) whereas rigid suspension is completely unforgiving. The only parts that will absorb impact will be youre tyres and youre arms/legs,this can be hard on the body, especially for 'older folkes'.[emoji185]

Just for interest sake,is there something wrong with your shock or do you just want to try out 'no suspension'?

Thanx for reply, no no, nothing wrong with shock! Just "gatvol" going over the bars! So i started riding with locked on and no more otb for me. Riding now for +- 1800km with shock locked. Used to it now.

Well if that works for you why not?If you do buy a rigid I suggest you hold on to youre suspension fork for a while until youre shore youre comfortable with no suspension before selling youre old fork. And when you do decide to sell the Reba drop me a PM,I will be very interested.

Louis, by the sounds of it, the suspension in itself may not be the problem.

If you're going otb, it may me a bike setup problem.

As a rough estimate, how tall are you and what size bike do you ride?

Souds like to much weight over the front wheel and when going downhill the bit of drop from the shock causes OTH .Maybe a longer travel fork set up stiff will be a better option .Or a larger frame .Maybe to much front brake or sittng instead of standing with weight backwards when going downhill .Tall rider experience !

I am 18o cm and my bike setup is done by my back and neck pain. Setup changed alot till I found the sweet spot. We did the setup right but with my nerve problem in my neck I changed untill it was right.

Frame size is 17 " Momson 529. Seatpost on the line off max.

Maybe the tuning of the fork Is off. I'd have read on the interwebs about tuning it and fiddle for a month before committing to rigid.

I have just bought a rigid single speed and I tell you it is a big change. It is hard.

Louis .I am 194cm and ride 22 to 23 inch frame .17" is to small for U .19 to 20 " frame will be better

Yeah. I'm 1.76m rolling on a 17". 17" is the smallest frame size I can rock.

I watched the XC world cup race at Albstadt, a lot of the riders were on hardtail and all of them had suspension forks, I did not see a single rigid. There must be a good reason.

I had my rigid ready to put on my SS .Rode a while with a locked fork and gave up on the idea .Sold the Rigid before even putting it on .Lockable quality fork 120mm is the answer IMHO

Is it just me or did he say 12 bar! You are riding a time bomb sir!... Forget OTB - you'll be going UTB when that baby blows you into a spinning backflip :D

Louis, I only have one bike and that is a single speed rigid. The change to rigid was much better than expected. You quickly learn to pick better lines! I would say give it a go and see for yourself. You won't struggle to sell a rigid fork if it is not to your liking.

Your frame is to small in my opinion. Should rather be on a 19 inch which would bring your center of gravity further back as the handle bars should now be higher and further away from you.
