how rude of the UCI to put their World Cup on the same day as our Provincial Champs ... hahahahaha

We will have to scurry off to the Keg after the race to try and catch the Mens race.

in the meantime - here is the Entry list from the UCI ...

There are threads on that.  They have a very active national circuit, bikeparks with gravity focus, a national cycling body that actually cares about cycling...

Hoping Sam Bull pulls a rabbit outta hat and has a good one!!! But Im always keen to see the SA guys do well! Hoping Needles does something special! Minnaar seems to be fit and hoping his hand is all better and gives us an all out performance!

....tis crazy!

tis taken a LONG time ....

Taken them about 5 to 7 years of pushing from British Cycling to get them to that level.

Also the input of event organisers like Si Paton, who took the dead-and-buried NPS (National Points Series) and turned it into the spectacular BDS (British DH Series) ...

So its not without the effort - SA needs to do the same and its starting, but it only works when there is a good event organiser on board to run the series. Currently its left up to each Regional association to run (or the odd single organisers like Mankele) ... but there is no central company that runs the series.

Another issue is the accessibility of racing World Cups - for Poms, you can just drive over the Channel and race a Euro world cup ... easy ... and its not too expensive if you are earning pounds. For SA riders its visas, flights, and then the general costs - so at least 2000 Euro more than a local European rider. And getting to the states is even worse.

But lets not dwell on this ...

TO FORT BILL .... hill of the bog, rain and midges ...

I'd say Aaron, Loic or Bryceland for the mens win, but I think the first 2 have a better chance of top step.

With Rachel crashing at BDS last weekend and hurting her wrist - I'd say Manon is ladies favourite, with Emmiline biting at her high heels

I'm punting Mercurial Mike Jones and Troy-BosKop as my favorites to take Fort Bill.

all in the absence of Sam Hill of course ;)

No Ratboy or will his foot be bothering him?
