I want try the tubeless conversion on my road bike too...Just 1 question:

When the tyres are worn have to be replaced' date=' how much of a mess is it when the tyre is removed and how difficult is it to clean the rim up for the new tyre?
[/quote']

Rather worry if you have a blow out on the rear tyre...... goo will be sprayed everywhere and it will be messy!!!!!!!!

Big H i had a rear tubby blow out on me before which had slime inCry....I know the mess it can makeDead

At least I didn't drop a clanger.

(How long do you think we can go on for before people start complaining?)

I scheme it can take car valve - I guess that's the better option, the BMX tjoop with the car valve that is?

Lurker' date=' how long since your conversion and how much riding?[/quote']

Wheels were converted about a month ago.

I've ridden every weekend since, probably about 5-6hrs per weekend.

So hasn't had much use, but it's a good start.

Ben, did not read the whole post....... when you place the BMX tube, what happens to the old valve stem as well as the rubber reinforced area around the valve stem.

What sealant do you use, do you use liquid latex or do you use Sludge? Will the Continental Gravity 26 x 2.3 tyres we use on the tandem work??????

BigH - The stem stays as that is used to inflate the now converted wheel. I used Joe's.

I don't see any reason why it won't work with your tyres!

Ben do you use the whole bmx tyre or do you "slice" away the inner half. I am just a leetle confused as if you use the whole tube the airflow will be blocked by the inner half of the tube.

Do you also still use rim tape??????

My insulation tape and tubeless valve is still sealing perfectly after 5 months . BB I am going to try the car valve tonight and see if I can get a proper fit . BigH it is always a good idea to use rim tape anyway .
