Category: MTB

ENTER this legendary race NOW at www.cycleevents.co.za to become a #daisywarrior

This race is known to be the toughest one day MTB race in SA with the profiles measuring over 2,000m, which is why the Rotary club decided to add two easier rides, the 20km and 30km fun rides. Something for everyone. A Mini Mountain Bike course will be available for riders between 2 – 12 years of age.

This is the 20th year that the Barberton Rotary Club will host this well known race. Beautiful scenery through some of the oldest areas of the world. The course includes rides through the Mountainlands Nature Reserve, Danroc Macadamia plantations, Greenstone Wildlife Estate, Sappi forests and plantations and through Jeddo Stud’s sugar cane and macadamia trees as well as a true bushveld ride.

This route is not without obstacles, single tracks, plantation roads, water crossings and a train bridge crossing.

Distances:

The “very delicate” 20km FUN RIDE: R 80.00

The “delicate” 30km HALF MARATHON: R 100.00

The “not so delicate” 48km HALF MARATHON: R 150.00

The “not so delicate” 77km FULL MARATHON: R 200.00

The “not so delicate” 110km ULTRA MARATHON: R 230.00

Gonna attempt the Ultra for the first time next year....

Its not that bad. The last 500m to the finish line is the best part... The other Parts we don't want to talk about. It Hurts too much!!!  :whistling:

Hoekvlag, is Springbok up for this one or has the defeat by Japan got him crying in his beer?

He's had a rough couple of weeks because he was at Loftus the week before and experienced the first half humiliation by the Lions. By now that is insignificant compared to the Springbok defeat, but it still hurt...

He's definitely going to Barberton - also considering the Ultra this time around! We're doing the Berg & Bush together in a couple of weeks and use it as the start of the base training for Barberton...

It can't be that bad - everybody goes back to do it again... :whistling:

Good luck with Berg & Bush if you haven't done it it's a great race. As for Barberton I'm looking at making a come back on Dusi Canoe Marathon next year and if all goes to plan I won't be able to do Barberton if the plan falls apart I'll be there for the Marathon.

As long as we get another of your excellent stories around the canoeing adventures! Good luck - hope it works out, but Barberton's not a bad backup plan...
