I've got the Trance with the standard Fox fork. Would love to know what this Pike can do that the Fox can't. (not talking quality issues here, just performance)

Not being cocky but try a Pike (even in a bike shop) and see for yourself :)

It is a night and day difference.

11 speed is too much of hard work for Cape Town climbs. Contermans mast, Eselfontein's Dead Man Walking, Welvanpas Black on 11 speed - no thanks. 11 speed is for racing snake dirt-roadies.

its wide range. so we talking the extender size big ring granny. should even things out for us foolish mortals

ok, it's so good that I am going to notice the difference even in the bike shop? Give me an example of what it does better. not being argumentative, would really like to know.

to be honest I would love to go 11 speed, but I wouldn't compromise on my granny ratio. (don't ask me what mine currently is, I don't have a clue)

Its not a compromise at all. Well that's not true. The compromise between ease of climbing and spinning out at top speed is one you make with the choice of your front sized chainring

You will yes. I did anyway just sitting by on a Pike equipped bike. Its just a another level of plushness.

You really need to take it out on a trail to see it really work though. Small bump sensitivity is great as well as taking the big hits. You can hit the big stuff without the thought of the fork being damaged or breaking cross your mind. Nice and stiff as well. Confidence inspiring.

Its a bit of an unfair comparison though. Fox 32 is entry level trail fork and Pike is top of the range trail / all mountain. Way more expensive but better in every way.

I have ridden the new Fox 36 and it to is amazing. Hearing good things about the new 34 as well.

With the promise of new affordable drive trains coming out in 1x, 2x and even 3x11. I think 10 speed will phase out completely. There really is no need for it, the extenders, etc.

11 speed allows a wider range of riders to consider going single ring upfront.

Not just the super fit because of the bigger granny gear. I hope that makes sense so you understand it better. Sorry for derailing the thread, and sorry for the puns.

There is no comparison between a Pike and an entry-level (Performance line) Fox.

A few points a nutshell: The Pike's charger damper is superior in both compression and rebound damping feel. It's waaaay more supple at the top of the stroke, while at the same lowish pressure not wallowing in the mid-stroke or being overwhelmed by big hits. There is practically no stiction if it's well maintained. The larger volume damper feels much more composed through successive hits in terms of consistency.

In the recent past, I've had a Fox CTD (Performance, not Factory line), a Revelation and currently have two Pikes in the house. The Revelation is a substantial step up from the Fox (no comparison even between them, to be honest), and the Pike is yet another step up from the Revelation when the going gets truly gnarly.

Seriously, take a 100m spin down some bumpy stuff and you'll know right away...

When will the 2016 Giant Trance bikes be available, or atleats the specs?

I’m halfway through may save towards a PYGA, but I have recently seen some awesome bikes and started to have doubt.

1st  2016 Trance…. The 2014 and 2015 Trance is an amazing beautiful powerful  machine! So what will the 2016 have

2nd A bit interested in the cube bikes I saw at trailhead, but scared of the short warrantee

3rd I saw a bike on FB last night called a Transition' Scout, requested the specs but man it’s a beaut !

So if you had to choose a slacker bike with a 140 mm travel, 650b in true Trance / Pyga style with a 40K budget what would it be ?

( and yes I can get both for that price)

Pyga are going to start selling lower spec bikes with their current ally frames soon - so pricing will be just over R40k for a Pascoe and just under for a 110 or 120 ;)

They will keep the Stages at the higher spec.

I can't believe a brand like Morewood have just lay down and let things go ..... they should also have been right up there with the way new bikes are going!

Such a pity!

So just over R40k for Pascoe.  Does that mean dropper post and beefier fork standard?
