Protein Shakes

Did a quick calculation on the meals I described above.

1. Bacon & Eggs

2. Chicken Salad

3. Steak and salad

95g Fat, 20g Carbs, 134g protein.

That 134g of protein is enough for a guy weighing 111Kg at 20% body fat.

And, you'll agree, most guys of 111Kg is goign to eat much more than the 3 small meals I posted above. so their protein intake is going to be much higher.

Thus; absolutely no need to make USN rich drinking their Whey protein powder you're going to convert to sugar in any case as your body is already full of aminos.

But different proteins are absorbed at different rates.  I am someone that struggles to absorb most things so need to supplement with forms that are easier to absorb.

this industry is largely unregulated and they can put whatever they want in that stuff and make claims that are out of this world. so be very careful what you put into the body its the only machine u don't get spare for.

Dunno if this has been discussed here before. But these things are horrible...

Recommendation on the pack suggests 150ml of water to a 21gr scoop. now my question, it does taste slightly better with milk, however 150ml milk makes it like a double thick milkshake, kinda chewing it down. Any downsides to using more milk? So that it's more like a nesquik?

Powder is more soluble in warm liquid...

78 * 0.8 * 1.5 = 94g of protein.

So you're spot on.

I think the big thing some of the peeps in this thread miss is the insulin response created by Whey protein or just eating too much protein in the first place.

Even in body building circles there is a big move away from pure Whey shakes to those that incorporate other protein sources (such as Casein) that will slow down the protein absorption and modulate the Insulin spike.

Not sure what you're on about regarding whey and insulin spike? Whey and a simple sugar based post workout supplement is what spikes insulin. This is to pull protein into muscles to aid recovery and a list of other benefits.

Down a Post workout easily digestible whey/carb blend within 30 minutes after activity. Eat 15 minutes once done.

Supplementfactory.co za have well priced products and a whey only, without any other crap, range. Give them a bash.
