Now if someone made a suspension dropper post...

Rock Shox do. It's called a Reverb. After some time it'll upgrade itself to approximately 25mm travel.

I rode with mine on this 25mm travel setting for quite some time, but decided to go back to a conventional dropper post... so I had it serviced.

Anybody have experience of this seatpost?

I am thinking of getting one for the stoker on my Mtb tandem.

Never used a Zoom before, but have used a Thompson Alien seat post which looks more or less similar to the top 3 in your photos and does the same thing at the end of the day.

They are great for smoothing out the harshness you experience on a "hardtail" from stuff like dirt road corrugations or anything in that category / size of bumps.

The only negative I can think of is you need to raise the seat height slightly higher than your normal set up to compensate for sag when u put weight on the saddle, the extra height can make it awkward to get back on the saddle if you stop and put a foot / both feet on the ground.

I've had 2 Stealth Reverbs that did exactly this....can only assume it is a deliberate design feature

Exactly! It's like "on dear, your warranty has just come to an end. Well to make up for that, we'll activate a bonus feature that adds 25mm of travel".

Still love my Reverb though, even if it does require some TLC now and then.

Yes I am looking at the top picture option for the back of the Mtb tandem

Can anyone tell me where I would be able to buy this, The thudbuster is just too heavy, it will be for my wife.

eBay, R460.00 and it weighs 560 gram, not sure if it will be lighter than a Thudbuster
