Anyone know if there is an Irongirl this year? There is a link on the Irongirl.com website to an EL event but link does not resolve.

Anyone not doing the race and have accommodation available? Nothing in the classifieds.

Friend of mine cancelled their accommodation at the Kennaway hotel at the weekend

Don't know if it's still available??

Sheesh seriaas jitters setting in now?

How do you know if you've trained enough

you don't.... :)

but if you can swim 1.9 km's , cycle 90 and run 21 individually, chances are you will be ok.... (although the swim is probably no indication to be honest)

It's that bike cut off that's got me completely freaked TBO ????

Swim not an issue I don't think I'm also doing the 8 Mile Club at Midmar for the second year in a few weeks (although that's not in the sea with a wetsuit)

And the run ...... We by that stage I can walk / run I guess

Oh well ....... The taper has begun .....enjoy everyone

You will be fine, you have done a 5150 so know what to expect... this only a little bit further  :whistling:

The swim is just the warm up and the shortest of all 3, there will be no problem with the cycle even if you have mechanicals with regard to cut-off, and there will be many who run-walk to the finish!!

Enjoy the event !!

Couple more days then will start tapering .....

off topic, but my sister also doing 8 mile for the second time this year ... good luck with that ..I see they have introduced a 16 mile too which I might do in 2017/8 if I can get funding to swim the channel.

but I reckon you will be ok and good to go.... conditions dependent of course... if on the day nature deals you a joker , well that's one of the draws of triathlon

I am following one of Joe Friel's programs and started the run taper about a week ago, cycle this week and swim in a couple of days. This is much earlier than I normally start, so it feels as if I am doing to little. The focus for last week and this week is a brick every 3rd day. I guess we will see in a week or two if it works...

Did you use his book and did you do the assesments to get to the numbers, or are you using a coach? I have the Book but just to lazy to do the assesments etc, and maybe I should do it and self coach properly?

Interesting that you are advised to taper so early.. will be interested to see your feedback after the race

I used his book, did assessments and followed his program from Prep, Base, Build to Peak periods. I needed a bit more structure to my training this year (I am doing IMSA as well), so I am following it as closely as possible. I can see the improvement in all disciplines in my training, compared to last year, but race day is obviously totally different.
