MTB - Saddle Bag or Jersey Pockets?

When you do your weekend rides, do you carry your tools (tyre levers, bombs, CO2 pump and repair kit) and extra tube in a saddle bay or in your jersey pockets and why?

How about multi day stage races?

This is on the assumption that you don't use a camel pack.

Jersey pockets. Never been a fan of a saddle bag dangling about under the saddle. Stage races included.

i've never been a fan of having my stuff stuffed into my jersey pockets. way too unconfortable for me with the feel and movement etc.... I used to use a camel back but found that this caused me to heat up quite a bit which made my back sweat excessively. I use a top tube bag which workes great for me. Each to their own i guess, nothing more!

Have a look at this thread https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/149841-when-do-you-have-too-much-in-the-camelbak/

Obviously, same goes for jersey pockets. All hard things into saddle bag, no need to have anything rattling in it if you pack it right (I don't even check that I have everything in it anymore cause it's always packed). I hate stuff banging against my back while cycling, and I'm always worried about breaking stuff if I fall

I am a saddle bag man. I saw that dude in america that broke his back from the shock pump in his camel back (real unlucky sure) and so dont carry hard stuff in my jersey. Dont like the weight in my shirt either. Also my bike is always packed and ready to go, I am sure I would always forget something if i have to put it in the shirt!!!

My 2c!!

pocpacs - I split my stuff into two of them, so it's not that bulky and doesn't weigh down / stretch my jersey pockets - one in each pocket, food etc goes into the middle pocket.

Saddle bag dangling under your saddle looks like ball sack!  Bombs and tube on your frame, Rest in your pocket.  Done

Saddle bag for me - I don't have a problem with my ego .... :whistling:  I  have a number of bikes, and swop the same saddle bag between them - never without anything when I need it!

Saddle bag  ... a lot easier to change between bikes and I'm always sure I have everything. No rattling when neatly and tightly packed.

This is currently creating another issue... had 2 bottles on my XTC and now with the Anthem only have one... so I either put another bottle in the jersey pocket or I need to get a seat post bottle cage (which I'm not a fan of as it tends to hit the back tyre)... so have to choose which setup is less irritating. Would love to hear of any other ideas to solve this problem.

Camelbak for me. I come prepared, inevitably are race slang(epic legend) or a fair maiden will require the assistance of a porn star with a back pack full of water, tools and spares.
