Another Road wheels threat

Leg breaker

IMO

You could go with 38 or 50 mm carbon wheel, e.g. dark horse. Get some decent brake pads (read swisstop black prince) and it's a really good all round wheel. Nice and comfy

Or you could get a really stiff, strong aluminium wheel, e.g. Campagnolo Eurus, good all round wheel, nice and stiff quick accelerating, less comfy

Either wheel would suit you purpose just depends if you want comfort over rigidity. Price is +- the same if you buy them new.

Stick on some decent tires and you good to go.

Are you racing for podium spots or for the enjoyment of it?

So if you doing the Argus and you have a flat 50km in are you just going to bail?

On a clincher you could change a tube and be back on the road within 5 mins or less. Not sure what it's like with tubs, but if you carry an extra tyre then should be similar I guess.

I try for podiums but those don't come often  :(.  If i flat during a road race my race is over, but i would like to ride back and not catch a lift. Someone told me about a bottle of something they use and it works to fix a small flat.

Weight is a pretty big consideration also.

Whats wrong with tubbies ? If you get a flat your race is over anyway.

Thanks for all the input.

There's a big buyer's market for tubbies (thus many good deals) on the HubSA market

They just roll so nice-nice

And you shed some extra weight

50 mm for the Cape terrain which mostly include hilltops and rollers.

Yeah, with a puncture or cut, your bunch is on the horizon.

Call a friend.

Good luck!!

Vitoria Pitstop

Works 4/5 times for small cuts or punctures

As it stands i have a friend who will sell me a set of DT Swiss tubbies that weigh around 1kg , and also a set of EA90 Aero tubbies that are 55mm. This all will fit into my budget. Can swop out the front wheels on windy days and use the DT swiss with races with loads of climbing or strong winds.

Good luck finding decent tubbies. Conti Sprinters cannot get stock of and R1200+- for a tyre...

Just bought 25mm for R890 from evobikes last week.
