2 Grease or not 2 Grease

Gday fellow cyclists

Please can any one advise me as to what the best grease and or thread paste is. Alu to Alu (no carbon). I currently have the "Pedro's Syn Grease" which does imply that it is safe for both bearings as well as for threading but I am just worried if it might be better for my bike to use specialized paste made for threads instead of grease.

As long as we are on the topic.. Any comments on Biodegradable Grease? Yay or nay?

anti seize compound should be applied to threads. e.g. Copa Slip.

Bearings get greased. Low viscosity works best for smooth rolling,eg. in hubs.

high tack grease like Shimano"s green snot poly urea for slower rolling bearings or where you dont want oil draining out onto carbon e.g in Headsets, or bottom brackets.

Be careful when tightening alu to alu threaded parts. They strip easily so best to use a torque wrench and don't exceed recommended torque.

Use a anti-seize compound rather than grease for threads.

Not to hijack but would you use copa slip rather than grease to lubricate the threads when assembling a BB?

Doing my first build and was going to put marine grease on the threads but a little confused now.

Copper slip for threads.  Grease for bearings.  Marine grease for boats.

Yes.

Nickel based anti seize is best for aluminium threads, it's closer to Al on the galvanic scale so less likely to corrode.

Copaslip will work, but will need more frequent disassembly to prevent seizing.

For carbon seatposts, bars etc use carbon assembly paste, and pull seatposts out and clean them occasionally. A stuck seatpost is not a joke.

Hardware store...ask for copper slip. You get it in the paste and spray.

Watch out for the paste...its messy...wifey won't be to happy if you get it on your shorts.

Copaslip and carbon paste are not the same thing. Not by a long shot.
