Great race. Nice and tough. Johan really has done a great job on those trails.

So provisional results are out. Many G and H batch in under 3:30. I know of 3 who I saw cut across at the top of the mountain before going over and joining again at the top of the long climb. They did not DNF but are on the "scoresheet". Their history times are a give away. I have their numbers.

What is the consensus on reporting these people? So not cool. The woman even came past on the last portion of that long climb shouting at us to keep left as she sped past. (Pity she didn't climb the whole bloody thing)

Yip, I saw others doing exactly what you describe. Life has a way of sorting you out and if you have to cheat in an event like this who are you really fooling? I pity these guys, cannot go well with them. Karma is 'n ding.............

Some suspicious finishing times in the results.

Checked one okes racing history on SASeeding and his finishing time in this race. He must be on something or took a right turn instead of a left.  :whistling:

Do they check for anomalies in the result set?

I took a wrong turn-off doing 40 @ Curro and ended up at the end of the 70km - my time was automatically DisQuali'ed. Seems like they had some check-in scanners along the route. I didn't even have to report it.

Marshals should also be on a look-out for guys purposely cutting corners.

I must say there were many more marshalls at Hakahana compared to Curro & I would think the marshalls should be instructed to take numbers and report short cutters.

Even one sitting high on a look-out with Binoculars and a pen.

Because honestly If you see 5 guys cutting corners would you remember all their numbers?

And if they in front of you how will you see their numbers?

I hate to be the one kicking off the SASeeding moan... But.

This is the best position I have ever finished in, in both overall, and my category. But, the resultant seeding index isn't even in my top 3 of my best? I thought it was the relative finishing to the winners that determined your seeding index result?

dude i took a wrong turn at 23km and at the next water point i found out i was on the 40 and not 70, joined the 70 and got to the end around 35 so I decided to turn to the car park and not cross the finish line so there would be no arguments

Obvious cheating is one thing but there were guys that inadvertently took a wrong at about 27km and cut out a loop of 2 kms. My mates and I compared distances at the end some had 55k others 53k and the ones that did the shorter distances had no clue of the loop or where they went wrong. IMO it would be travesty if these guys were tarred with the same brush as the guys that simply cut across the top of the mountain leaving out a 15km section. Perhaps we should just be sure of whether we are saying the guys result shouldn't count versus branding someone a cheat.

1 condition tho - NO LYCRA !!!

???????????????? luckily not. Oh. Except Lycra. But upskilling will allow you to ride smoother with tenfold enjoyment. Join us for one day on the trail and you will see where it's at. In fact most Sunday's we have regular groups going out.

The lycra went many moons ago so that's the easy part and I'm looking forward to upskilling part which is the harder part.

Guys, dont say that...if someone could ride the Enduro World Series this weekend in lycra, then that will be fine of course for Hakahana turf too :D

Everyone is accepted and will get the 'feel at home' feeling ^_^

I agree 100% with you! And kudos to the okes that either DQ'ed themselves or didn't even cross the finish line after making a mistake. But people that jumped across in that valley at the 26km mark missing the whole flat section at the back needs to be reported.

Jip, seems that the 2km loop was an easy mistake to make, as well as going on the wrong route split, but blatant cutting of the section after 26km is not acceptable.

I also just did 53km and asked some guys at the end what their distances were and they confirmed 53 and a mate of mine did 55. Where did we miss the loop then.......hate that!

The above mentioned turn should have had bunting and a marshal to indicate the turn. I did see the arrow board at the last second, but can fully understand that people just basted straight through there. That turn was poorly marked and as a result some(most) riders gained a 3 minute advantage over the guys that followed the route.

As for the 70km/40km split... There should have been a timing check point for the 70km route. I can say with confidence that I would have been the first E batch rider home had it not been for guys taking short cuts, intentionally or not.

The thing that grates me badly about riders receiving official times after they took a shortcut is that they get indexes they don't deserve and as a result I'll be stuck behind them again at the next race.

That's what happened now. The culprits I am going to report gained some lekke indexes and they are now starting in front of you, ready to take some shortcuts again. Are they going to stop once they reach an index of 10?

Quite easy to check. Put last year and this years result sheets next to each other. Compare winners time vs your time and check a similar result for the previous one. If it's not the same, drop them a mail, sure they'll correct/explain the reason why.

Well done on getting your PB result wise, it's a nice feeling hey!

Actually, I think you've pretty much answered my question. I was looking at "position" relative to the winner, where they are probably using "time" relative to the winner.

It's still an awesome feeling to PR positionally!
