Banting race/ride fuel

Can't be on low / no carb diet and expect to have performance at the same time.

I made that mistake. Passed out at the top of tieke draai close to Nitida 8 weeks ago while in ketosis. Physically got to the top of the hill, vision faded to black and toppled over.

You can eat a balanced meal and exercise.

I do water, bananas and dates on training rides.  But I do race on protein and sugar ("if you want to go fast, you need sugar").

So racing:

3 GU Roctane energy gels (super gels)

2 bonkbusters (magic stuff)

1 GU Roctane energy drink mix and 1 water.

No cramping, better sustained power, faster times.

what is the bonkbusters?

I have been following LCHF meal plan for 3 months and managed to shed a useful amount of weight. My performance took a slight dip in the first month (was expected) but has improved significantly, especially on climbs. I do find that I am still missing that "extra gear" that carbs gave me. My efforts over 90% are gradually increasing in duration. Small trade-off for me personally in the bigger scheme of things. You'd be hard pressed to find a true "expert" as most are experimenting at this stage. For me, as a non-Olympian, I sleep better, ride lighter and fuss less over food. Racing snakes might struggle with this. Tip: Do what works for you and listen to your body. Good luck !!

I personally feel that everyone should do the banting diet! It will make you sooooo strong and stop cancer and stop every illness known to man!

You will live forever. Your wife will love you long time. Just remember. .. don't cheat. .. no matter how *** you are performing. .. Keep at it. .. because if you don't you'll have no energy. .. you'll get fat. ..you'll most probably get cancer because sugar is the devil!
