    Tshwane Classic

But they are quite steep. And don't forget that coming back from Harties on the N4 is one constant drag of just under 20km. In the front racing groups, the more heavier oakes like myself will bleed through the eyes just to hang on.
  3. In 2011 my wife did het first 94.7 and first race ever, so she got a really bad seeding. At registration at the expo we showed them some times on the polar of training rides and a Rooiwal race which was 2 weeks prior and they bumped her up by about 12 groups if I remember correctly. 2 years ago I also used the Sat Classic to get a better seeding, but that year the reseeding closed after the sat classic and not the week before like this year.
  4. can I have a link to this thread please. I try search for it but couldn't find anything.
  5. So this is what flats look like? or is just a graphic indicating the cobbled sections and not the profile?
  6. I have a serious question for the locals- just how bad is the water situation? Usually we came down and stay for the week after the CTCT and make a little holiday of it, but thought we would just come down for the weekend due to the water situation. You won't enjoy a holiday if you can't flush the toilet after every use or aren't allowed to shower or bath properly. I've also heard that they introduced "load shedding" with the water, is this true? I did some calculations and even to come down only for the weekend, will cost me just shy of R 10 k. I can't justify this expense for a race, hence the little holiday. I understand the situation and am willing to make some sacrifices like shower in 2 - 3 minutes with a bucket in the shower to catch the water to use in the garden or somewhere else. But wash in a basin or not being allowed to flush the toilet or "beurt water" is not going to work for me. Then I'll rather stay home and see you guys in 2019. All being said, I really empathise with you guys down there and hope the situation can be sorted quickly.
  7. RIP Hannes and condolences to the family and friends. I can remember him from his days at Hot Spot. Friendly and humble and always willing to help.
  8. hehe, you guys are on top of your game this morning.
  9. As Hilton said, Hennops Pride. I haven't been there myself, but a buddy of mine have camped there quite a number of times when he still used to stayed in Pta. He only had good reports about this place.
  10. I actually like the sports days, but I feel you on those concerts. Thankfully my kids are past that now. I still have quite a number of years (hopefully) to work on excuses to miss these as a grand parent.
  11. So you swing both ways then? I'm currently with DH/ Vitality and use it to its full. I also have certain products with Momentum but always thought it would be a waste having both Vitality and Multiply. I had a meeting with my advisor and she also has both (Diamond and Private club) and she also recommend us to take Multiply. To get to private club won't be an issue and the savings we will get and other benefits are much more than the monthly contributions. She send me a shitload of brochures and stuff that I will read through over the weekend, but yeah, I'm looking forward at getting the best of both worlds.
  12. Surely crime/ road safety also plays a role in this.
  13. Exactly what I've said in a earlier post. The fact that 2 CTCT's were affected by first the fire (2015) and then the riots/ wind this year, just made a lot of riders realise that there is a real risk it might happen again to any event. With the economy getting a bit tougher, people might get very picky about what races they want to do, especially races where you have to add travel and accommodation.
  14. I bought new Time pedals, I think the Xpresso 8 or something like that about 2 years ago. They were the second best of the range then and set me back about R 3000 if I remember correctly, but it broke twice since then. Fortunately Time could have fixed it every time for about R 200, but I've promised myself that if it break again I will look at getting Looks.
  15. I have no idea. Fortunately collection on Friday is quite close.
  16. Also in AL- yes, it will be fun till hekpoort. If I can finish under 3H with the longer distance this year, I'll be more than happy.
  17. Right between AL en CL B is for B batch and L is for long distance. B batch is basically the second best batch of the open seeded groups and start after the elites and racing vets. not sure if this is what you wanted to know.
  18. for people meeting your criteria it's a fun ride, not a race. The people who consider this a race are usually fit enough, have a decent enough seeding and welcome the suffering.
  19. This is correct. As far as I know Discovery are the only Insurer who has this option. Just note that you still have to specify all 3 bikes on the policy, but you choose the "Estimated Maximum Loss" option. You will then only pay for two most expensive bikes. However, this is not available as a stand alone product, only as part of your personal policy which at least should include House hold contents of R 250 000. Just also take note that if the bikes get stolen from your house or got damaged whilst in the house, average is applicable whether it is specified or not. I think Investec have something similar where you have automatic all risk cover for anything of up to R 50 000 without the need to specify anything. You need to bank with Investec and the sum's insured for contents and buildings is quite high.
  20. Not a chance. If he can have it his way, the wind will be even stronger than last year.
  21. Shhttt...he can up his fees after he has done mine.
  22. is it ethical to ask here what is the cost of a respray? Does Bogus One do the design as well or does he work from once own ideas? I'm seriously thinking about sending my bike there in the off season.
  23. That's not cool Especially seeing the joy on the little guy's face. Hope you get it replaced soon. A man can't be without his bike.
