But this is not a mass participation event where 80 000 people arrives and leaves at the same time.

35 000 people stretched over three days..... Moerse difference.

Apples with apples DJR. I'm disapointed in you.  :whistling:

Agreed. The traffic that one football game causes over the weekend is freaking terrible and thats on 40 000 peeps!

Not to mention every knob with a subwoofer trying to out shine the next knob.

If you guys have bikes why not park in town and cycle to the Thule lock up across from the venue!

Wannabe, you make a good point but even 2000 cars in that area will be chaotic!

It takes no more than 10 minutes to walk from the Waterfront to the Stadium, and it's a nice walk.

Maybe the fresh air will lighten your mood :P

Which happens every weekend as people flock to the Waterfront, so nothing new there.

Just admit it, it is a crappy arrangement.

There was more of a disturbance at the old venue, and that did not seem to bother the powers that be then.

Dude, I'm not sure I'd trust a Thule lockup service. We've read of countless people who learned the hard way about the effectiveness of a Thule "lock".

Think of it as active recovery

I think it's great.  The old venue was dodgy, at least at the stadium it's safer to walk around outside.

Plus it's on my doorstep!

Fortunately I have no bad experience concerning this matter. But yeah locking your bike up only to have it taken before the race would suck.

That's why I said I'll come park in your spot.

Hell, it's not even fun anymore, riling you people up. Too easy.

What gear ratios do you think majority of the elite / top groups use for a race like the CTCT? Think any use compact cranks?

Definitely standard mostly

Those ascents are short enough for power climbing (hard efforts for less than 10 minutes)

Maybe a few on semi-compact

Well if you're old tired legs really need the break, I'll go drop you off and then come park your car by our place

Really scared of Public transport, came in with car, thinking I might take a really easy ride into work tomorrow rather, traffic sucks. Shouldn't do any damage and probably keep the legs nice and loose. About 18Km in and 18km back.

Train is crazy, people pretty much in your face, coughing and spluttering, I just narrowly missed a cold!

I think a Pogo Stick will be a sure winner, easiest way to get from car to Expo

Collected my entry, Stadium is without a doubt a better venue for all the vendors. Still a mystery why the LARGE parking area next to Granger Bay Boulevard is fenced off and empty... Parking is going to be a little nightmarish once the big crowds arrive. Kudo's on the new venue though - massive improvement on Good Hope Centre!
