GT Marathon Team

OR

Santa Cruz Superlight with full SRAM XO (except front derailleur, X9), Sram noir team carbon cranks, avid juicy ultimates, FOX100RLC...?

Anybody own the GT...? What do you have to say about it...?

Any1 ridden 1 n think it's ***...? Comments please...?

Comments on the superlight...?

What i'm actually thinking of doing is buying a mongoose meteore team hardtail as a donor bike, and shifting all the components to a superlight frame (it comes with an RP23 shock anyway).

Done the math n it'll still work out cheaper than the GT, plus i'll be left with a spare hardtail frame should i ever feel the need to build it up, or i can try sell it...

This sound logical...?

The GT is one helluva sexy bike tho, and i do quite like my Shimano over SRAM...

I'm not sure where this anti-carbon paranoir comes from. I've owned two carbon MTBs and not had a problem with either.

I've heard reports Sant Cruz frame breakages from the guys at Cycle Factory. Don't know about the GT, other than that people had issues with the rear sus a while back.

My 2c is to get the Anthem Advanced or if you are a "carbo-phobe" get the Anthem 0!

Not a Giant fan... Did they sort out the sus problem on the Marathon...?

No idea! To be honest I wasn't a fan of the Giant until I got talked into buying one, but very happy now.

That's a great idea! Speak to Mike's Bikes, I'm sure they can hook you up.

There isn't another person i'd buy a bike from or even allow close to my bikes with a spanner/multitool other than Mike, and of course his trusty sidekick Jason. Bought my Teocali Super there n have had nothing but excellent service and advice from him. In fact he planted the Superlight seed in my brain...

Shot for all the advice peeps, definately spoken me into it, will post a pic when it's in my posession...

Mike rocks! They are the only shop that have ever seen my bike.

How are you finding the Teocali? Why do you want to get the Superlight instead?

Don't want the superlight instead, want it ASWELL...!

Love the Teocali, just put a set of camo MTX rims on it with hope pro2 hubs, skewers and rotors. Thing is it now weighs a ton, so i'd like to use it more for my freeriding, like the obstacles on the spruit and logwood n mankele type riding where i can use all the travel n put it thru it's paces down rocky descents and drop-offs etc.

Want the Superlight for xc and marathon/stage racing. I'm kinda new to the sport and plan on entering some of the Sabie and Sani2C type events, and having a lighter bike is always nice.

Plus you can never have too many toys...
