Center Lock Rotors with Play on the splines

I have a cheap-ish bike with Shimano hydraulic brakes (M445/446) with Center-lock rotors. I have noticed today that the play on the rotors relating to the splines seems to be a bit excessive. Holding the brake, I can move the wheel/bike about 2cm backwards and forwards where there is no "braking". This does not seem to affect overall braking performance at the moment.

My question is if its maybe time to replace the rotors (just hope the play did not develop on the hub-splines).

Details that may be of use:

Rotors are over 3 year old with about 5000km done, both are 160mm (Shimano RT30 resin only rotors)

Wheels are Fulcrum Red Metal 5s (26"), they have done about 3500km

I am on the heavy side (94kg), but was over 100kg when I started cycling 3 years ago.

Centrelock rotors will always have a bit of play on the spline. If it's excessive, the lockrig is probably loose - tighten with a cassette lockring tool and you're done.

If there's play on the carrier, replace the rotors.

Are you sure it is the splines. I had a similar issue and also thought it was the splines. Make sure that the rivets are properly secure. Mine were loose at the rivets

I checked the rivets between the Carrier Body and rest of the rotor, no movement. Movement is on the splines and the lock-ring is not loose (I cannot move the rotor by hand and have to hold the brake and use some force on the tire).

Think what I will do is to compare the rotor to another of the same type and try find what the issue is.

Thanks for the suggestions.

cool, see if you can lend one to fit and see if it has the same problem.

My wife's bike also has center-lock rotors (possibly the exact same model), think I will also be able to compare the state of the splines on the hubs.
