You can up that to three things (boring, predictable & afraid of descents) and I think you're being parsimonious with your praise of him wrt those. I think he slayed it.

However I still think he is a prize chop. It was rather unsportsmanlike of him to block Majka the way he did and that over KoM points. Froome will most likely win that jersey too and so could easily have allowed Majka to take those points.

Going for the KOM on that summit led Quintana to not notice the attack on the next summit when he repeated the effort. I think he was setting it up.

Anyway it's a point of view. We look at the same thing and interpret it differently. All I know is he was friendly when he came past me as I struggled up a hill in the reserve and his support car then stopped and helped me fix a puncture. Polite and friendly is my personal experience.

was froome scared the guys was aiming to take a wizz against his leg??

Not sure the organizers can just ignore this, think he's going to get some serious chirping from spectators come the big climbs.

Don't think that that was what he was doing there. By Froome's own admission that attack was unplanned therefore his blocking of Majka was unnecessary. Yes it's a bike race and yes you have to make your own luck but it's a mountain top sprint and should be mano y mano with no fouling involved. Still can't help feeling a bit aggrieved by his actions wrt this incident.

Generally speaking I find Froome to be a decent bloke and I think that's why this is distasteful to me.

When people think you’re predictable or conservative, then you’ve always got the element of surprise and we thought we’d use that this year and we have the riders to do it. I think it’ll keep people guessing. We do a lot more than people think in terms of imaginative tactics."

Watch closely how Froome took that descent, he knew where to sit up and where he could stay in "that aero" tuck.... He knew it very well and it was practiced....imo

Hopefully he did not strain something from all that pedaling in an unnatural position... Time will tell

"Nothing against the Colombian fans, I think they’re fantastic and bring a great atmosphere to the race. But this guy in particular was running right next to my handlebars that had a flag that was flying behind him. It was just getting dangerous, so I pushed him away, I lashed out and pushed him away."

That awkward pedalling position also worried me! Worth the risk for 30 seconds at this early stage in the tour?

It sure didn't look very comfortable did it? Who knows if it's worth it. I don't think it's just a matter of time though. He has landed the first blow and Quintana as good as he is has to now react. Quintana has admitted to preparing specifically to countering Froome and now the first attack Froome puts in Quintana can't respond. That's got to hurt and raise doubts in his mind.

I like Froome but I'm still hoping to see Quintana strike back.

A huge gamble, if he cramped or at worst came off we would all be saying how stupid he was for taking such risks at this stage.

I've been riding bikes for enough years to know that I'm not brave or supple enough to attempt that... Especially after 165 km and 4000m of climbing

Anyone see Bardet almost high side in the last corner before the finish... Lol his heart must have been in his mouth as he lost second place after that
