Thanks for the warning V12man.

I've heard so many stories of ibuprofen or even myprodol use in unsupported ultra racing (TCR, TransAm, TransAf, RASA) that I thought it was OK. This has changed my mind....

I have been on and off the bike for a while now due to taking heavy painkillers. Not much fun either as when you ride you dont feel great and when you dont you feel worse.

Want me to introduce you to patients from those races? :)

Surprisingly - Voltaren is well known as a do not take medication amongst comrades runners - and Tim says it is the biggest killer in that race - but still some endurance events packing lists include NSAIDS as a standard recovery thing - really really not on at all.

Turn the music up and ride the trainer slowly.... :)

Hope you recover quickly - fortunately you won't remember the pain specifics within a month or two at most.

pain is your body's way of protecting you against yourself.ignore it at your own risk.if you use stuff to bs the brain you might make one or 2 training rides even a race maybe but it is not sustainable and damaging to your health long term.

my motto has always been that my sport is my hobby and I should practice my hobby in such a way that I will be able to do it again tomorrow.

my 2c worth.
