DT Swiss Hub Rotor Removal

Hi Guys,

I am looking for some advise...

I am wanting to remove the rotor from my DT Swiss rear hub and all the sites I have looked at say that it should pull off once the cassette lock ring and and the adapter has been removed.

Mine does not. Even after tapping the cassette that had bit in the rotor off.

Any one had a similiar problem and have some advise or tips on how to remove this?

ps. your rotor is removed by removing the 6 bolts holding to the hub, or by removing the lock ring (if you have centre-lock rotors)

Your description is off due to the DT swiss picture. In that picture they refer to the freehub body as the Rotor.

Unfortunately I cannot help you as mine has always come off quite easily. Maybe spray some Q20 or something in there to loosen the dirt.

I still got no luck getting mine off.

Even tried "jacking" it off with the cassette lock ring agaisnt the axel and still no movement.

Going to have to take it in to the LBS and see what they can do

You mighr have some corrosion due to water ingress. Try to get some penetrating oil (e.g. Q10) in there, soak overnight and have another go.

That's the freewheel body.

The rotor is the brake disk.

Everyone loves a smart arse. Particularly when they are wrong.

The OP even posted a picture to show what he meant by rotor.

Here it is again:

You are going to have to get creative.  It seems that the bearings have seized onto the axle.  As Droo suggests refit the cassette and with your knees on the tire try to lever it off.  Failing that you will have to try and hold the cassette/freebody with the wheel free and "drift" the axle out with a plastic rod and plastic mallet.

Unfortunately you can't remove the whole assembly with bearings by drifting the axle from the non drive side as the ring nut 4 in the diagram needs to come out before the drive side hub bearing can be removed.
