Not receipts - they'll track it via the race timing and your race number, together with your ID.

Thank you.

How will they then know if a person has been entered(read paid) for by their team?

They won't... as far as I know.

In any case, the R600 for just the kit is enough for me. I need a new kit for training. The discounts, licence and possible cash back is bonus. I definitely join this.

should not be a problem as you get emailed receipts and reference proof of entered races for number collection.

Am sure it will also be linked to racetec etc

Just out of interest, do they ever verify the details we put when claiming for points? I am sure I have missed a few seconds when entering my time... the worst is when I added an extra hour   .

do you have to pay R600 every year or is this just a one off payment to become part of Team Vitality?

No, as long as you have a finishing time, and you are registered as a finisher. I think the time you enter is just an approximation...

Each year, probably increasing with inflation.

Okay guys, just confirmed. That "qualifying spend for cash back of R 3,000 per quarter" is just very bad wording. There is no minimum spend, no threshold and no tiering of benefits.

The R 3,000 is a quarterly limit on your discountable entries, so you can get 50% back on up to R 3,000 per quarter, with a total spend of R 12,000 per year and a total cash back amount of R 6,000 per year.

The "up to 50%" cash back is necessary as the Entry Fee is set at the PRE ENTRY amount, so if you enter on the day or have a late entry, you don't get 50% of that amount back - you only get 50% of the pre-entry amount back in cash.

R 600 per year gets you:

CSA license (still need to clarify if it's recreational only, but I'd assume it is)

Kit

Discount vouchers for Bicycling etc

Thanks for the feedback - definitely worth it.

I was wrong about the qualifying spend - so to the few that commented on my comment, I'm sorry.

seems decent enough, just seems a little light on the road cycling front............hope they add in a few more events to make it really worthwhile and up the points we can get from road cycling, the 39000 limit is too little.

If it helps, I sent Discovery Vitality a mail requesting that they include the Carnival City Masteel National Classic (sorry for the guys and gals outside GP).

I got a reply the following day, but they said the email address they have on record (for me) was different to the address I send the mail with. Of course it would be, I was sending it from one of the race organisation's addresses, and not as a member of Vitality.

Is it only me that thinks that they could have given a better rate for a person wanting to join for both the running and cycling, rather than just adding R600 and R300 and then say "only pay R900 if you want to join for both running and cycling". At least make it more attractive if you want to add the "only pay" part. Like, join for both at a discounted rate of R800, or something.

What does "UP TO 50%" mean?

Exactly that, you cannot get more than 50% and depending on how you entered % will be less, or if you have entered more than the qty of races you will not get any discount.

Not really, you want to get the benefits for both running and cycling, then you need to pay for each. They have done the math and do not want to loose, like any casino, they always win.
