Duane_Bosch Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Gwin is certainly not my favourite rider but he is a flippen good rider with the results to back it all up. Steve Jones did a great write up/opion piece in DirtMTB regarding AG and "Is he worth it?" Just one of the stats below: World Cup Winners 2011-2015Gwin 14 World Cup winsGreg Minnaar 5Steve Smith 4Josh Bryceland 3Gee Atherton 3Sam Hill 2Brook MacDonald 1Remi Thirion 1Troy Brosnan 1Total 34 RacesI'm not sure why everyone here hates him so much. There's a few reasons I'd wager 1. He's a yank. Cam Zink is a yank2. He consistently spanks everyone. When Sam Hill was spanking no one seemed to hate him3. He's a red bull athlete. So are a bunch of dudes4. He's probably going to overtake greg in terms of wins and overalls. Records are made to be broken5. He publicly gives thanks to the man above. He comes from US motocross and AAAAALLLLL of those guys give thanks when they're on the podium. 6. He doesn't come off as a party guy. I think the sport could use a dose of professionalism. The motocross boys in the states (His background) are HARD at work from the end of the outdoor season getting ready for Anaheim 1. (This weekend baby!!!!)7. He wants to be paid what he feels he's worth. Don't you?
Stretch Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Clearly race wins isn't the only thing Spez looks at when determining an rider's value. There is obviously a lot that has been going on behind the scenes that we're not privy to. he was most successful at trek as a matter of interest....it was those 2 seasons where he just killed the competition
Duane_Bosch Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 he was most successful at trek as a matter of interest....it was those 2 seasons where he just killed the competitionNeedles had his best years on Trek too if I remember correctly. And Possibly Tracey Mosely? And Bulldog.
BarHugger Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 I'm not sure why everyone here hates him so much. Successful people are always picked on the most .

He is a bit like a jesus toting shaun palmer...he too was an arrogant prick that earned waay more than anyone else...but he was who he claimed to be and everything was out in the open..Gwinn has hidden agendas. What he is asking is significantly higher than everyone else. Is he significantly beter than everyone else? Remember he had two dominant seasons then was *** for 2 seasons...and only in the last 2 has he regained some form...he is back to that level now...lets see if he can keep it in 2016

But the way he left them, grade A poephol...that is the most unprofessional, dick move in DH racing imo From that day, every run he made I was hoping he would see his koek.

Don't you? +1 Hijack - where can u watch the 2016 supercross season before waiting for the TV broadcast...we only get it much later on TV...like months later?

But the way he left them, grade A poephol...that is the most unprofessional, dick move in DH racing imo From that day, every run he made I was hoping he would see his koek. and he has kind of done the same again
Tumbleweed Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 2. He consistently spanks everyone. When Sam Hill was spanking no one seemed to hate him People hated Hill at the top of his game. He even makes mention of it in an interview on The Tipping Point, referring to a "target on his back", and you just know it's not just because of his ability on the track. Ironically, in the same film, there is a section dedicated to Gwin who got everyone's attention with a 10th in his first WC...
rouxtjie Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 and he has kind of done the same againlive by the sword..... He must maar gaan aan...he is false person, a talented false person I will concede.
Duane_Bosch Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 +1 Hijack - where can u watch the 2016 supercross season before waiting for the TV broadcast...we only get it much later on TV...like months later? We get ZERO NADDA FOKKOL Supercross and Motocross GP coverage here. Soccer tho. 7 channels, day & night. Don't take my word for it but apparently there's a guy on piratebay or KAT who goes by the username of slicknick0610. According to legend he'll upload the feed the following day. Rumour has it he has also been known to upload MX GP, Arenacross, Endurocross, Moto GP, WSBK and a smattering of Moto related documentaries. You can also get the stuff off youtube if yu look hard enough but there's no interviews or pre game show. Meh!
Odinson Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 He must've been sitting one evening thinking to himself, "What would jesus do?", when a little voice in his head told him "Jesus would definitely ask for more money, bro. Just do it - what's the worst that could happen?".
SwissVan Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Sometimes i think WE over analyse the stuff prominent personalities do....modern media puts everything that makes news out "there", often its controversial stuff... just imagine your salary negotiations or reasons for leaving your last job were made public on FB...guaranteed someone would find it objectionable I watch the racing, very rarely will i watch the post race interviews etc...tired of hearing the BS marketing speeches (thanking sponsors etc...) often i don't even know who they ride for... Life is stressful enough without getting wound up about someone else's problems Peace

Makes for good drama an all that Gwin does the villain thing well...only his decisions to blame.
