Pyga oneten frame size - M or L?

Hi all,

I'm on the very cusp on the M and L Pyga oneten at 178cm tall ( longer torso shorter legs body type). I'm hoping to hear from other Pyga riders in a similar predicament whether the L frame with a short stem is a good solution.

My current Niner RIP which is comfortable has a 608mm toptube with a 50mm stem with the seat shifted most of the way towards the rear. Any shorter a toptube and I get that over-the -handlbar feeling on rocky descents (Tokai etc.).

Sitting on a bike in the store hasn't been much use. Anybody with the same problem?

I'm 178cm. I too, have a longer torso and shorter legs. Medium is the way forward.

Ride it with the 70mm stem for fun/trail, 80mm - 90mm for more marathon stuff.

I am 1.77cm and ride a Large Pyga 110.

It is just the right size. On climbs it actually feels a bit small for me, but on downhills it is a scream. Pat apparently designed the bikes to be ridden with a shorter stem - the whole longer top tube, slacker head-angle, shorter chainstays, shorter stem philosophy.

At the time of buying, I was debating the M vs L issue, until I had a go on a Large with a short 50 or 70mm stem. It just felt fantastic. The M would be way to small for me. The large feels a lot shorter and more nimble than previous Medium Giant Anthem 29er, mainly due to the shorter chainstays.

Thanks for the valuable input guys. This is definitely a trail use bike for me so the short stem wide bar cockpit is what I'm looking for. Barracuda, is the standover clearance on the large sufficient for you?

Debated the same point with myself for some time. So this morning I rode 4 different Oneten's, 2 of them L and 2 of them M.

My 1,78m frame enjoyed the M the most. So going with a 40mm stem and 750mm bars. Hope to have it by Thursday.
