2016 motivation for getting lighter and faster

Well done Ian. Seems the pressure of Shova being soo close has helped get the mind in check !

Keep it up.

My next big concern is the 947, that's gonna be a "Challenge"

Thanks...Just a pity I left it so late...with the wife/ cook on my side it is easy...she offers great guidance and keeps me on track.

I can see improvements from your side...whatever it is you are doing is working.

I have no plans to ride the 94.7...but let's see closer to the time I might try it

11 years ago my reward for for dropping below 100 kg was to go skydiving...didn't make the goal...but I have decided to change the reward to a month with a personal trainer instead.

great, Ian. That's a far more beneficial reward, IMO

What are you doing, nutrition and training wise? Your weight loss is still on the high end at the moment, but it seems consistent - which is good. Just asking for interest's sake.

Keep it up, man. I'll be seeing you below 100 pretty soon, hopefully.

Rather look at the positives and the results you achieving, don't stress about it being late or not getting to where you wanted to be... Its race week, you need to be mentally fit also and not pondering over what could have been.

For me, its just been the eating that changed a little. Training is still the same with just cycling and 1-2 gym sessions a week.

Day 8 ...101.4 kg...2.6 kg drop for the week...very happy with the result.

before anyone says anything...I know it was the weekend...I can tell you I didn't even sneak in a sugary sour sweet...not even a bite...the only difference was I rode the bike further and faster in the mornings with and against some hectic wind...had bacon and eggs for breakfast on both days instead of oats...which was calculated into the quantities allocated for the day...protein...carbs and fat...not concerned about the slight increase...that's a 5 minute session on the ivory throne.

Will continue until Thursday then change my dinners to high carb foods.

Gona take it easy this week and just keep the legs turning...might go play on the circuit if I get time on Tuesday or Thursday.

Some tips I got over time,

Keep the intensity high but duration short at a higher cadence. You keep your legs sharp and avoid high levels of fatigue.

For many many years I believed in the 'carbo loading' theory but lets just have a look at what I did for Berg and Bush ...

Normal diet (protein only with a few nuts here and there) right up to Friday morning (had 2 boiled eggs and a pre race drink an hour or so before) ... 99k's in 5:30 (only so you know what it involved ;) ), ate boiled eggs and bite size sausage at the waterpoints, drank 32Gi energy drink and had about 3 of the 32Gi foodbars (carbs I know I know) - had a recovery drink (the same one we use for pre-race by the way)

Supper/breakfast just protein again (meat/eggs) - 60k's 3:17 - ate/drank the same on the ride as Friday

And so on, no issues with energy at all!

Came back about a kilo lighter than I left ..... perhaps for those racing at the 'sharp end' of the field this won't work at all but for us hackers it is clearly possible. Quite chuffed that I was able to stick to my diet and manage fine, convinced that this is the correct diet/strategy for ME

I believe we must do what works for you...i try not eat processed food anymore sausages...wors...viennas that kind of stuff...as much fruit and veg as possible...cut out fizzy drinks...and cut back on processed sugar.

to stay motivated and keep going you must believe in what you are doing and is best for your body....some people believe being a vegan or banting or paleo...etc etc is the right for them...that is what is important ...it is the only way you will stay on track...which one is right or wrong...its not important...so long as your checkups with the doc are good and the results positive...then you need to stick to it.

i went for a quack visit with a small list last week...all was good except one thing has change...my blood pressure...dropped for 120/60 which apparently what is causing dizzyness when i stand up...i was told i need to increase my salt intake.

when you buy a machine or device which promises super abs...or a lean body there is always * conditions * attached...with a decent eating plan.

i am doing it the other way around...i am adding a min. of 30 minutes of exercise per day to my eating plan ;)

nutrition as i mentioned in the thread above...which is pretty much a "weighless eating plan" ...its working for me and has in the past...for now i will try stick to it and see what the future holds...once i have been for my blood tests the results will help determine where to from here.

day 9...101.2 kg...this is where the challenge starts... now 1.2 kg to go...could take a week or more...i am eating the correct food and quantity and doing 30 min. riding bike or trainer per day.

we get to this point where it seems like all the effort is for nothing...the drop is slow or reversed ...my body is craving junk food...just a little something...whats the big deal...surely a kit kat wont make a difference...the only way i will achieve the goal is to stay focused...there be reward at the end...having your partner on your side make makes a huge difference.

Oke, relax!

Hopefully you're plotting your daily weight on Excel or some such? Focus on the positive. 2.8kg in 9 days. Many of us would give a testicle for that (with the associated weight loss obviously!). Focus on the 'Shova, and don't forget that there'll be weight loss, however temporary, during that race, so maybe your 100kg 'barrier' will be shattered at the weekend?

Positive, panic-slowly vibes......

Hi Isetech you are doing awesome man.  It does get hard, but have a look back to see what you have achieved.  You can do this.  And remember, you don't want to just get to a 100kg mark and then let go, you want to stay there or go even lower.  Allow yourself room to breath, take it easy and steady.  Keep on feeding your body the good stuff, and it will return the favour.

I finally managed to get my ass out of bed this morning at 5am, and went to the little gym for the first time in about 5 months.  The feeling is so good, will try again tomorrow morning.

Remember, every effort is worth more than no effort!!!

been at this point a few times in the past 22 months...the worse part was at the beginning of this year when my weight was sitting at around 105/6 kg then climbed to 11.4 kg.

30 minutes on the trainer i loose 4-500 grams of sweat...i most certainly will smash the 100 kg mark on Sunday...4 hours on the bike i should drop at least 2 kg again this year ;)

the 100 kg goal came about 11 years ago...so for now thats the target...once i go below 100 the next target will be 95 kg.

'goal weights' aside the question I have posed before is what does one realistically expect to do when you reach that weight? You cannot clearly go back to the fat a$$ diet you were on that put the weight on .... in my case it also was not an option to try to slowly change my diet to 'maintain' either so I decided (this time!) to just stay with this lifestyle that I am now used to and never think I can change it.

I know many say well it's boring and yes you can now and then have the 'nice' stuff that others do but again that doesn't work for me always leads to a slow decline to where I was. I have made peace with that now though :)
