Thanks for the tip - I'll definitely rope in any and all cycling friends to help me!

Hehe that meme is so nice you have to post it twice ;)

Thanks for the welcome - it's awesome to be here!

Indeed that meme is that nice and rather true.

A useful tip: learn to draw and replace your bidon (fancy pants term for water bottle) while riding, it saves energy and it allows you to retain your momentum while riding. Or just get a camelbak.

As for the people on the Bike Hub: all are pretty friendly but be warned we can be very opinionated and so be willing to take some statements with a large helping of salt and don't take anything said here too personally.

Well I guess that is proof that it is true if you also used that picture before noticing I had posted it as well, haha.

Dude I have 5 cycling related shirts that is not kit. So yes I think we can say that is a very true statement!

Very true. This is a super concentrated group of highly opinionated people.

I know what you mean, I also have t-shirts, and somebody even bought be a mug..

Apparently I need to find me the mountain biking version of that mug! Looks pretty darn cool!

I don't know where she bought it but I can ask.

Not sure if they have a mountain bike version, but I would be pretty surprised if there wasn't one - considering I ride both and it was free I wasn't going to complain :P

I DEFINITELY need to practice the water bottle business; I took my hand off the handlebars for about a second yesterday and was sure that was the end of my life!   so balance and one handed things need to be worked on!

As for taking comments with a pinch of salt, thanks for the heads up! I've had plenty of practice on another forum that I'm a member of, so hopefully I'll be fine here too ;) :D

Well done LexieB!

Just to underscore what the people have said earlier, cycling uses cash. HOWEVER! Don't see it as an expense but as an investment! Just a small change in mindset and there you go!

Remember, when friends, spouse and family ask "how many bikes do you need?!", the correct answer is always N+1.

Thanks BDF!! [emoji2]

Hahaha you're not the first person to tell me the N+1 theory!! I had never thought about it before I heard a term put to it, but I was using the same theory with running shoes - a person ALWAYS needs another pair of running shoes [emoji23] so now I'll "invest" less in more running shoes for a while, so that I can "invest" more in cycling! Pfft, and my teachers always said I'd never be able to get into the (smart) investment game [emoji1][emoji1]

Hahaaa I know that feeling, when I started trying to grapple for the drinking tube thing on the hydration pack whike staying in a relatively straight line and staying upright was just one thing too many.

Enjoy the journey and welcome

Wahaha yep, that sounds like me!! Put it this way - I was really glad that I chose a dead quiet Sunday morning for my first ride, otherwise I would be plastered across the Tarmac and around some car tyres [emoji23][emoji23]

Amount of bikes to own:

A=(N+1) combined with (S-1)

A= (current +1) combined with  (Separation from spouse - 1)

I'd appreciate it if you asked your friend where she got it and the cool thing is you have a legit excuse in asking for a hubber in Cape Town.
