GoPro Helmet mount

Howzit all,

I have 2 sticky mounts for my GoPro Hero 3+ (1 flat and 1 curved) but I dont have enough surface area on my Bell Volt to safely hold the camera to my head,

A handlebar mount is just noisy and gives horrible footage,

Has anyone found a good way to mount it on your pip?

Many thanks

My 2c.

The chesty mount remains the best, but you have to wear it pretty tight to keep the camera stable on the bumpy stuff. I use a Hero 4 Silver on 720p Super View at 100fps with this mount and the footage looks AWESOME.

(Also, the clip for it is on the front, so you can unclip the mount, unzip your shirt and then clip it back quite easily).

The strappy mount for the helmet is a strange thing, firstly it kills your neck muscles the first few times out but you adjust quickly. An interesting piece of advice for that mount is to place it as far back on your vented helmet as possible as this makes it more stable and you don't feel the weight of the cam. I always ran mine in front on the helmet until I was advised by a random GoPro'er on the trails to rather try it like that... life changing! But always do your best to get the straps as TIGHT as possible on the mount. Also try using the flat camera mount with those white rubber thingies...reduces the vibration massively. The goose-neck type mount raises the weight of the camera and makes it extremely uncomfortable again for me personally.

But nothing beats sticky mounts on a full face. You can put em anywhere and it is comfy!

Head mount is OK, better on the side of a full-face but on top with vented lid, only the vented strap works and you have to really tension the mount up...as said previously, you looking around a lot when riding so it can get dizzying to watch but your neck does give some dampening. Mounting anywhere directly to the bike is the worst, no matter what mount you use, vibrations are directed straight thru the mount especially if the mount has any extension. It's great for short inserts in post though, to give a different angle but you need to aim for close subjects like gears, wheels or chain rings, anything out in the distance will be crazy jumpy even after post-stabilization. That white thingy is just to prevent the mounting clip from coming undone...it keeps the jaws of the flexible mount arms open and doesn't give any stability.

Chesty is better cause your body absorbs the vibrations nicely and it also gives interesting perspective with both the bike, handlebars arms and terrain in view. The chesty gets mounted on top of all your gear so no need to unbutton your shirt!

Best is a 3D gimbal, now coming with GoPro mounts...have a look!

Here's another, same trail, all gimballed...

I NEED THIS!!! SO AWESOME!!!

Bar mounts are generally cr@ppy... There is far too much bouncing around and rattle from the terrain, doesn't matter how good your suspension is. Body mounts remain the most stable so far...

That footage is AWESOME but sooooo smooth, it's almost unreal......I dunno, maybe I am old (school), but I kinda like the jumpy, home-made feel to vids
