I like everything about this except that you need to already be privileged enough to ride Epic to be potentially more privileged by getting a RP helmet for a year...

I'm wiling to ride in your helmets and tell my rich, epic riding mates (and non epic riding mates) how good they are so they buy them for the Epic!

No need to hand cake to the kings while us roadies and trail riders feel snubbed. ;)

Any chance that this offer could be extended to Joberg2C Riders?

Thanks very much to ASG and Rudy Project for this wonderful opportunity. My brand new RP helmet was waiting for me when I arrived home from work. Can't wait to go for a ride to test it!

Interesting, isn't this a bit like hijack marketing?

Clever concept though and considering the exposure probably minimal outlay for ASG relatively speaking.

It's a sponsorship. The same as every single piece of kit of every single pro-rider there... and pretty much every other sport star on the planet. Extending it to mid-pack riders is simply clever.

I love my RP helmet and sunnies. Can't afford to ride The Epic, but I'm on my third set of RP sunnies and second helmet and will continue to buy them. Great service from ASG too.

I don't know so much, manufacturers have tried similar tactics and been roasted by the race organisers/governing bodies for hijack marketing.

The OP's intent as stated is very specific - put helmets on the heads of Epic riders whilst riding the Epic. No Epic race entry no helmet, if that clause wasn't there then ya fair deal it's just a brand doing some run of the mill brand awareness exercise but that's not the case.

What do you expect from a company that can't even spell sponsorship?
