Hi guys.

 

I recently ordered some parts (aircraft related) from the USA. I did recieve a tracking number for the parcel which was sent with USPS priority mail international.

 

On the tracking it says it departed JHB on the 22 of January. Pressumably for delivery?

 

Is there anyway I can track this parcel locally. Ive read before that EMS gives it a new tracking number. If true where can I try and find this.

You can use your international tracking number on either of these websites.  If it is registered on the system it will advise you accordingly.  SAPO however do not update it regularly apart from when arriving in the country and when has been to customs and back.  They seem to be a bit slow in updating when is in transit to final destination.

how long does it usually take for a package to clear on the RSA side?

i have 2 packages, one from france, the other australia that are currently "in transit"

 

they have been in transit for over a week now.

i assume this is going to take months??

sometimes 2 weeks sometimes 8 weeks, I have seen a post on here with over a year later delivered. 

If your package incurred customs duties (anything with tracking number and or worth more thanR100) its gonna take a while Customs are short staffed atm.

shipping started their side on the 21st so it might be a while longer.

i managed to call them and so far nothing is in their system.

I have 4 parcels coming in. all 4 have last been scanned at incoming either jhb or capemail.

 

The 1 i actually already received, i first phoned them they couldn't locate it and when i went to the postoffice it was there.

 

The other 3 was last scanned beginning of nov. i am guessing their IT integration or something is broken so they cannot track on their own systems.
