Can I give a tip on how to get the free hub / body back on the hub?

Use some floss to hold those fins in place and slide it back into place then simply pull the floss out

Many thanks Headshot and RW ....have answered my question/problem to the T....

Will give feedback once all together again and ridden...

Well Folks...once again the VERY willing and helpful member comments here went a long way to me successfully removing...cleaning and re oiling my Alice,s free hub...

I found dirt and it appeared to be very "dry" inside...I cleaned it out thoroughly re oiled and light grease ...the bearings on either side seem to running smoothly and nothing looked untoward...

I replaced everything and tightened up ...checked derailleur settings and gears changing slick n smooth...

After work this arvie will take her out for a spin and see whats what...

Thanks once again , will give feedback once Ive been for a pedal...

P.S...first time Ive done this ...and I sat for a few minutes with a cuppa java and gave myself a good talking to..hehe....For years I have serviced ..re built and fixed fishing reels ...from very complex ie with springs n stuff measuring 2mm and less....Sooo..how hard can a free hub strip be???....WELL...It took me at least 30min to find out that an alan key is neede in the axel to take off the retaining nut...hehe...alls well that ends well

Even if the noise is still there the cleaning / lube will make a difference to your riding experience  :whistling:
