I use any grease, just a little.

If it is a small diameter thread and it looks like it may come loose, and I don't want to overtighten it, then I use a bit of thread lock (weak strength). I wouldn't put thread lock any where near bottom bracket, hubs, headseat, pedals, cassette, seat tube.

Helping? Some pretty *** ideas going on here.

As usual it's a bunch of guys offering their opinion which they swear by, but others will scoff at

So then... where are your words of wisdom?

Just looking for some advice, not looking to start an argument

My old man is an old-school mechanical engineer and has a worrying obsession with copperslip. There are little copper fingerprints on just about anything he's ever worked on. That said, he still rides a schwinn from the early 90s with all of its original components and the bike is as quiet as an owl in flight. Can't say the same for him.

Copperslip and a good torque wrench gets another vote from me.

Check the manufacturers recomendation. Somethings require lubrication (e.g. oil or grease), others an anti seize compound (e.g. copper slip), other require additional security (e.g. locktite), etc. and importantly many require nothing.

Generally you require very little at a time, i.e. buy a tube, tub of each and it will, figuratively speaking, last you a lifetime.

Petroleum Jelly on most parts (Especially good at stopping brake squeal on Avids), and copper-slip for bearings (Wheel and Headset), gets them seated really well.

yes - but recommendation is more expensive than the regular cycling tool brand by a big margin....

parktool, birzman, pedros and the like should be fine - and less expensive than the ones I like.

I really want to bu those dont come cheap, any recommendation?

No grease and a shifting been working for me for the last 20 years . Haven't lost anything yet from the bike besides the odd Water bottle . I am not to sure why you would want to grease nuts and bolts !! Anybody ?
