Giant Dropper Post Installation

Hey guys, I need some help / advice.

I received my Giant Dropper Post today and was looking in the manual and the net on how to do the internal cable routing. This might be an obvious or dumb question but does the frame have to have specific internal routing for a dropper post? I see that the external way leaves the cable hanging when dropped which doesn't look great. I have a Giant Anthem X 2014

I also saw on another thread here that you get a special seatclamp that you can feed the cable through or someone even made a guide with a cable tie which was impressive.

So which way is best from experience? I have the 440mm / 150mm

To the best of my knowledge you can't do stealth on the 2014 Anthem. I've got the 100mm dropper on mine and the cable doesn't look to bad

Jip my 2014 Anthem had the Giant dropper set up externally.

My new Trance now has the same dropper internally. I personally would drill the frame. Especially a crack prone Anthem frame. Dont tempt fate.....

Do you mean wouldn't drill the frame....?

Thanks guys, I put it on my bike last night and guided the cable through the seat post clamp. Works well just the cable is way too long. How easy is it to cut? Should I dismantle it on the switch side or post side? Which do you think would be easier?

Does it affect the warranty at all?

There is a small hex bolt under the lever which will release the cable so you can adjust the length. Make sure you have decent cable cutters otherwise you will crimp (squash) the cable housing.

Where did you get your post from and what was the cost?

I got it on buycycle.co.za R2339. Best price that I found and great service as usual.

Is that the new 2016 model with no setback and the 2 bolt clamp for the saddle?

Yes you are correct, they called me after I ordered and told me that they don't make that one any more and they would send me the new one. Give them a call speak to Kristie.
