Somerset West trails

Hi, Im looking for some trail riding on Fri & Sat over the easter weekend. I can see there are lots on Strava heatmaps, but I dont know the access rules.

 

Any suggestions and advice?

 

Even better, are there some hubbers in the area that I could join for a ride?

Highly highly recommend Helderberg trails. One of my most favorite places to ride. just off the R44. Closed on Friday but open on Saturday.

Otherwise take a drive over Sir Lowrys pass. Mountain bike Nirvana in Grabouw / Elgin.

Theres also the wannabee routes but thats basic no technical farm roads riding. search for them on facebook or google. Require day permit there too.

For a quickie you can do Paradyskloof by entering the Eden forrest (free), then cycle from there to do G-Spot for fun, then cycle over and do the Coetzenburg circuit, and them back to Eden.

 

Helderberg is the bomb.  Pay the day fee at the farm shop.

 

Then off course there is Oak Valley and all that just over the mountain.

 

I think we will be doing the Eden, G-Spot ride tomorrow.

Some nice trails out at Paradyskloof. I did not explore too much, it was turning into a long ride. (From Strand via Winery rd)

Our plans changed, and we did some 30 odd kms on the Wannabee routes.

It looks like I headed the other way. I followed some guys around (kitted with arm and knee guards) but they went to the opposite side for a while, then I took a turn to go down the hill. Nice trail, moderately technical with the roots and loose rocks. Want to go back (holding thumbs that plans in the pipeline work out)

G-Spot is jumps and berms you definitely missed it if that's not the first impression! Like Moridin said your gonna have to go back!

There is also the new True Grit Bike Park

They are at Knorhoek Estate near Sir Lowry's Pass Village. Quite nice trails. Combination of farms road with tons of single track.

I will go! My efforts have paid off, Im starting at a company in Somerset West in Oct. Im looking foreward to exploring many new trails (good mtb area was on my list of criteria)
