is this a joke?!

No, he is a serious heavy weight in business and the running of a company like Cadiz investments, which did extremely well under his leadership. He mostly kept a low profile but is well respected in business circles. I suspect he was picked mostly for that reason.  He's never been a cyclist though, but I think that is not a required skill for running something like the Cycle Tour Trust. In extreme and cold water swimming he is somewhat of a legend. The man first came on my radar when he swam the length of the Orange / Gariep from source to mouth.

I'm surprised by this appointment. Let me just say that I've been a supporter at some of these events mentioned and despite the lack or equipment required there were more fancy german SUVs in the parking lot than what you'd see at a SWorks invite only ride at spaz HQ.

I don't think that's the vibe at all we should be going for at cycling, but will sit on the fence for now until we know a bit more.

I think its a good appointment, you do not have to be a cyclist to run a cycling business. Case in point, look at all the failed bike shops run by cycling enthusiasts.

As with everything at the CTCTT, you hire great people and pay them what they are worth. Hence why they are the number one charity in South Africa.
