Rules are rules and you should abide by them, you aren't anything special or different to the others abiding by them.

Just because someone else doesn't abide by them doesn't mean you should follow.

If I'm not mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong, two abreast is what we should be abiding by.

This is another rant of a cycle club hogging the road.

 

Pic was taken just near the back entrance to Lanseria at around 7.40am

 

They were literally taking up the entire lane and could  not be bothered about traffic trying to pass.

 Okay so single file, but does it say single file on the side of the road in the yellow line, or can I single file in the middle of the lane...

Regulation 311. Riding on Pedal Cycles

1. No person shall ride a pedal cycle on a public road unless he or she is seated astride on the saddle of such pedal cycle.
2. Persons riding pedal cycles on a public road shall ride in single file except in the course of overtaking another pedal cycle, and two or more persons riding pedal cycles shall not overtake another vehicle at the same time.
3. No person riding or seated on a pedal cycle on a public road shall take hold of any other vehicle in motion.
4. No person riding a pedal cycle on a public road shall deliberately cause such pedal cycle to swerve from side to side.
5. No person riding a pedal cycle on a public road shall carry thereon any person, animal or object which obstructs his or her view or which prevents him or her from exercising complete control over the movements of such pedal cycle.
6. A person riding a pedal cycle on a public road shall do so with at least one hand on the handlebars of such pedal cycle.
7. Whenever a portion of a public road has been set aside for use by persons riding pedal cycles, no person shall ride a pedal cycle on any other portion of such road.
8. A person riding a pedal cycle on a public road or a portion of a public road set aside for use by persons riding pedal cycles, shall do so in such manner that all the wheels of such pedal cycle are in contact with the surface of the road at all times. "

So nowhere does it state WHERE to ride single file (forget about what my common sense tell me) and motorcyclist are allowed 2 abreast... 

 

So yes people can argue all day on this subject

In all these sort of threads it appears that road cyclists just do not care about their own lives?
I don't understand how you can knowingly put your life in danger on the road by riding 3 or 4 abreast? I know being in a bunch/group is how its supposed to be for the road cyclists and training etc but this is lawless South Africa and its dicey enough being in a car yet alone on a bicycle on our roads.

And as someone pointed out we are yet to see a dead motorist with the cyclist looking on at the scene....

Maybe... Admin could create a show and shame thread for all the pictures posts of club / team riders behaving badly...
