Simonsberg trails re-opened.

We joined Meurant and Arina on the Simonsberg reopening ride on Saturday.

I love riding there. Racing there is one thing, doing a trail ride there comes highly recommended. The trails are in great shape now, and the rain left them firm, yet lank slippery in some places.

The post-fire rehab and rest did the trails well.

It blows my mind how much flow there is, Meurant's Magic spade waved overtime on those trails. And Never say never ending again is one of those trails deserve to go straight into the Hall of fame. Pure rock and roll I tell you.

You can expect a lot of switchbacks, well built bench cut trails and a network of trails that makes for a myriad of combinations. And it is well marked.

The lekker thing of the Simonsberg trails is that I enjoyed riding there as much as the Wifey did on her hardtail as I did on my trailbike.

Don't be a rogue rider, be lekker. R50 gets you a day permit, with year permits also available.

I was there yesterday. It's the first time I've been there outside of doing an event, so I did get a bit lost. I was on my hardtail 29er, but next time I think I'll take my trail bike. They have done an incredible amount of work on the trails and the recent rain really helped.

planning on going saturday, whats the total loop, and are there any maps available?

No idea, and no idea. I think the trail centre at delvera will best answer those questions.

Strava?

I did 28km and about 1000m of elevation. But we did a Mish mash of trails and not the full loop. If you go up to never say never ending again, prepare yourself for a lot of climbing, and the loop took us a bit more than an hour.

Thanks. And where is Never say never ending again? Is that the new trail right at the top, above the Uitkyk Tunnel?

Jip. I'm not sure if the road to never say never ending again is marked. We just followed Meurant, best would be to ask them, but if you have ridden the FireRide you will know how to find it.

Thanks. So where is the FireRide ? Hahahaha

I will just have to find it.

I rode that Never say never ending again before the fire - it wasn't even finished and it was great but I couldn't get to the end. The trail just seemed to stop.

I have to get there soon.

Cheers
