Hey all.

Jan and I will be running a shuttle day this coming Saturday at Steilte. There will be 2 options available. The strong guys can run from the top to the kiosk and the other guys looking for shorter runs can kick out at the usual shuttle pickup. R300. EFT only. It's gonna be a goodie.

  • 3 bakkies
  • 8am-4pm
  • multiple lines
  • BRAND NEW Zore style trail
  • free boerie rolls
  • cheap beers and coolies
  • Demo bikes from Pyga and Rocky

Hahahaha.

Okes want Jan to build a ski lift but not even 30 people show up for a shuttle day.

Mind = Boggled

Ja, look I'm on official doctor's orders for another 3 - 4 weeks, but it's also not like a rock up every time there is one in any event, but this was one I'd have actually made a plan.

I ride there on a sunday. I work saturdays until 2, otherwise I would be there on a saturday for sure. Also with a shuttle day, there is no need to seek a riding buddy, or ride alone

You make buddies on shuttle days.

Plus you get to hit tech sections multiple times that you are too tired to do properly when pedaling up.

It's not all burly okes on 8 inch bikes at these things.

Just a report back on the shuttle day.

The new piece of track built by Duran and Jan is SUPERB!!!

The berms are at the correct angle and height. They flow incredibly well. I did crash on the little drop but that was the wind and not enough air in my front tire's fault.

A great day was had and Pieter Henning did 5200m in vert. In one day. That's Alpine territory.

Oh and the shuttle road has been cleaned up so you can run private shuttles without ruining your vehicle. You don't need a 4x4. Anything with a bit of ground clearance works fine. Fat mates on the back help with traction.

If you don't have a yearly shuttle permit it will cost you R200 for the day for shuttling. There's also a R200 deposit for the gate key but you get that back at the end of the day. Split between 6 mates that's not much of a hardship for what is probably the best gravity orientated riding facility in SA at the moment.

Oh AAAAAND Rob from the trail park told me he'a building a "gravity trail". He said it will have a 4% gradient. Which doesn't sound like much but if you look at the flow he's achieved with far less you won't be unhappy.

It will be on the hill behind his farm with full shuttle access!!
