Hi. I Also think you should have left this one for Friday :whistling:

Anyway, I Have done it and it works fine for me. Not all bikes is possible and results will vary a lot.

My bike is a 2011 model KTM Taser. A 2.25 tire in the 26'' Fox fork has plenty of clearance and works very good. The rear is not as spacious though. The biggest tire I can fit is a 2.1 and it clears everywhere at full travel.

For my riding conditions it works really well. If you're going to be riding very wet and muddy conditions it won't be ideal.

Well, that certainly answers a lot of my questions.  I'm looking at a 26er and like I say, it's not that I need the bigger wheels, I'm just thinking of the "what ifs".  Rather not sink cash into an obsolete bike.  The 120 looks neat for the price, just hope the 16" frame fits me

2.4 inch tyres on 26" rims weigh significantly more than 650b tyres on 650b rims.

Depends on your type of riding and area.

In most cases you can only get a 2.1 on the rear with the conversion and if you live in a muddy area you will have issues.

I have an old Yeti ASR-SL, and at the first Bike Fair chatting to the Yeti guys, I mentioned that I hardly (maybe once a year)  ride the bike. One guy suggested converting it to 650b/ 27.5. From the comments above,  I should probably borrow a wheel somewhere and first check clearance then.

I suppose it depends on the exact model.  I can see it working on this one

but you might run into trouble here:

Depends on the bike too. Some frames are already tight with 26x 2.25.

If it's an AM bike generally they will have sufficient clearance for 26 x 2.5 so going 650b shouldn't be a hassle.

On XC frames it's usually very tight

I converted my 26" Merida 120 (carbon frame) to 650b wheels. Not a lot of clearance on the rear but most 2.2 tyres are fine.
