So, brand new to MTB and looking for all the options. Online there seems to be very badly designed websites, with little information.

Would love your help! Tell me about as many trails as possible in and around Somerset West, Stellenbosch, and I'm also happy with anything around grabouw too as it's not too far for a drive out.

Would love to know:

Location (map pins would be amazing)

Entrance fee (day permit + multi entry)

Distances on offer (if you can include max distance when tying in various loops)

Susceptiblity to wind (scale of 1-10)

Difficulty (scale of 1-10)

Facilities on site (restaurant, toilets, etc)

Overall beauty of ride (scale 1-10)

Overall rating (scale 1-10)

Please be thorough as I'm sure this will not only help my local self, but for all the touristy types in December:)

Thanks in advance!!

Would also like to know. I can however attest that the Wannabees trails are VERY well documented on their website.

Google Banhoek Conservancy, Simonsberg Conservancy, Dirtopia, Bottelary MTB and MTO Trails Jonkerhoek

Can't ride Banhoek - trails not open to the public as far as I know. Rode it with the trail builder last year and he said they are still trying to sort out logistics for permits etc.

add Welvanpas and Rhebokskloof to your list.

The WB trails are quite nice for distance training. If you want nice technical trails try helderberg trails next door.

I've only really ridden at both Oak Valley and True Grit Bike Park. Both have an entry fee of R40 and is imho really good value for money offerings. Both have nice shower facilities available for afterwards and both have coffee shops onsite or close by. Same goes for restaurants. Oak Valley also has a bike wash facility too. Oak Valley offers about 50k's worth of riding if you ride the blue route and then the red route including the black route segments. True Grit is about the same ito distance but spread out over four routes, which you'll have to do separately but they all start and end at the coffee shop. Major differences is that Oak Valley has more steep climbing than True Grit and they differ on aesthetics. Oak Valley has a very modern retro feel to it whereas True Grit has a very rustic feel to it. You can read my thoughts on True Grit in the thread that I started about a month back. Just use their name for your search.

And Marick's list below is a good place to start to look for information on the trails in the Somerset West & Grabouw area.

Yes, I am a Wannabees member. We don't currently offer monthly memberships, only annual memberships. We do however have a vacation permit that we offer during December.
