camelbak is great quality and been in the game for long time; i have been through two of them (mostly adventure racing) and when I needed another one I actually stumbled onto a bag made by Salomon, way lighter and let in substantially more air.

The major reason I dont use a bag anymore (including long treks like transbaviaans) is it heats your back up like hell! so getting something that is light and can vent is pretty important; to me anyway

Are you talking about this salomon (if so I use mine to commute, I use the hydration slot for my laptop and it has enough space for clothes and towel too)?

OP, no one has mentioned the specialized swat bib, enough said!

Most of the concept stores have them in stock now, you can buy a combo bib and freestyle shorts for R1699.

Rattling tool holders in your drinks cage or a flapping Camelbak for your mentioned riding style/terrain is not ideal.
