The tingly feeling is Beta-Alanine, just make sure your drink doesn't contain any of it. It helps with vascularity, but not so nice on a bike

Correct.

It is, however, included in many of the highly recommended bike supplements in Selene Yeager's book ("Get Fast").

Yes, i googled the overseas products and then analysed their contents on a spreadsheet...

Of all the locally available drinks, Epic Pro most closely resembles (imitates?) the content of the supplement drinks recommended by Yeager.

Of course, personal preference is king.

When we get back, I have the Barberton 100km in January, the 36One in April and the S2C in May! The training for Dash '17 will start again in June...

I will be doing stage 1 and back on Saturday if any of the Windhoek guys are keen to join a relaxed ride

Partydave, there is a ride Saturday morning doing Kupferberg pass to Boards and a little bit beyond and back to Windhoek. Turnaround is 18km beyond the Boards. Starting 6h00 at Unam Crossing. You are welcome to join; just let me know beforehand, to ensure we'll wait a few minutes if late.

Did Kupfer and to the "borde" this past Saturday and Sunday.

Passed Mr. Warthog as he came down Swart-Mamaba on my way back up.

Must say . . .  seems like this time year everyone with a bicycle in Nam is on Kupferberg.

It's crazy/interesting . .

Depart time and total distance? I'm keen if you don't mind a slower rider tagging along

I'll tag along, but turn around at the 32km mark. Visiting my parents and don't want to be out too long

No problem. See you at 6h00. I'm not fast as well, especially up Kupferberg. There might be a few others also training for the Dash who will be joining us.

What tires are you guys running? I currently run a Rubena Kratos 2.45 on the front and the Arisun Mount Graham 2.2 at the back.

I want to go with something less aggressive with less rolling resistance at the front - I am looking at the Schwalbe Thunderburt 2.25, Racing Ralph 2.25, the Conti Race King 2.2 or the Maxxis Ikon 2.35.

Obviously with the non-techical nature of the route, puncture resistant sidewalls are less of a priority than rolling resistance and weight.
