Bud, I am so poon nervous about this. I just worry that I miss something obvious.

With these events its not a "legs thing" its a preparation and kop thing.

Asking these questions, just helps put my mind at ease.

Another question: How do you guys keep your GPS going for 24 hours.

I know exactly how you feel...

I have a small cheap 2200mA 'powerbank' that I am planning to plug in at CP3 and remove again at CP4 - it will give me enough charge for the rest.

Doesnt the GPS go into Standby Mode if plugged in?

Would giving it a 20min splash n dash at the CPs be an idea?

Edit: just tested mine, seems to stay on, guh, who would have guessed...

I think it's only the older edge 500 that goes into standby without a proprietary cable. All the newer stuff works fine.

My 520 adds about 1% charge every 3min, so you might end up a bit short.

You can also run a splitter cable and USB adaptor from your main light; but I'm scared of losing the battery life

I quickly checked, it a Polaroid brand battery pack, think it was 100bucks and you get them everywhere. I'm just going to tape it to the handlebar with insulation tape, and cut loose again at the next CP

I get my battery bank when I arrive at the car, strap it on my bike and drop it of again at bloedkoppie, GPS is then fully charged again.

Well, I'm sure you'll be OK, just see it as a DC with an added 170km! You should be home before tea...

Ag, don't worry so much Nonky. I'm more concerned about your Dash partner.

I'll only be in on Thursday.

Any news on the grading of the roads on stage 4/5 as an early Christmas gift, or was it just rumours (again)?

I spoke to an LBS yesterday and they said it has been graded. Nice cool weather and cloud cover in Windhoek today

Sweet!

Thanx
